So as mentioned its important to understand the quoted output vs the actual output. Most vendors will want to show just how much heat they can push out whereas none of them really want to say how little

I have a an 8kw inset stove - we selected it because of esthetics and not its output. I suspect we have never had it pushing out much more than a couple of Kw when burning soft wood (in small quantities). We chose a certified wood only stove to help with our BER (And we will never need one which takes coal) Just be aware if it can take coal then the BER assessor has to tag it as such in his report.

It looks nice - burns well - but does not really over heat the place (we leave most internal doors open other than for noise)

I would NEVER recommend not having a stove - for one reason you cannot huddle around UFH or ducted air heating on a cold winters night its just not the same !!

Pick a stove which looks nice and works for you - and don;t worry - you will never load it up to the max from a heat perspective

True. But with UFH you won't -or shouldn't be - huddlng in the first place. If you have UFH, and are, it's not working properly. ...

That said I've an inset fire too (Lpg) but almost never lit. It's nice as a focal point.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Prehaps the word cuddle, snuggle or some other term the mods would BLANK might have been more appropriate

but as you say a room needs a center peace and somewhere to lean against when one sips (no pun intended :) ) a wee dram
