Quick Back Boiler question

Hello all, I have an assessment with a solid fuel fireplace with a back boiler. The DEAP manual gives the efficiency for the fireplace as 30%. But for an "Open fire with back boiler (no radiators)" it gives 50%. My question is what does the "no radiators" mean? Does it mean no rads in the dwelling, or that the back boiler…

Hello all,

The DEAP manual gives the efficiency for the fireplace as 30%.

But for an "Open fire with back boiler (no radiators)" it gives 50%.

My question is what does the "no radiators" mean? Does it mean no rads in the dwelling, or that the back boiler does not supply the rads directly?

The 50% vs 30% efficiency is making a difference in the dwellings assessment, so an answer would be greatly appreciated!

It means the backboiler heats DHW only, not rads.
