Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2ed Hand Scrappage

Just wondering what people think one should be looking for on a second hand car with scrappage (a 10 year old polo classic)?
It seems to me better value to get a 2ed hand car if dealer is offering scrappage. I'm just curious what figure should you expect to get?

Scrappage is only offered on brand new cars; I'm afraid.

Yes I know technically the government scrappage is only for new cars but some dealers/garages are offering scrappage deals on their used cars.
The amount offered can vary, but what it amounts to is basically a trade in.
I'm just wondering is it better value to get a second hand car (eg 2008/9) with a scrappage discount of perhaps 2-3k than buying a new car for perhaps 5/6k more.
