New chainsaw

Hi all I'm going to splash out on a new chainsaw. Only use it pottering around the garden and not cutting anything too heavy. I want something for around €250-€300. Any reccomendations? I have been looking at the Ryobi range. The 3 I'm considering are the: RCS-4040CA 16", 40cc,
RCS-3540C 16", 35cc and RCS-4046C 18" 40cc. All are nice and lightweight. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

IMO spend an extra € 100 and get a professional quality Stihl. Over time this will prove a much more reliable and prudent investment.

i got the aldi one for 100 quid. 2 years ago. It has cut down loads of big trees . still starts every time.

Go online & get a Stihl. Cheap chainsaws are ok until they go wrong. A Stihl will last for ages & will start even after not being run for a long time.

yeah. but for 100 quid ye cant go wrong. 3 year warrenty as well. Stihl are no doubt the best. But so expensive.
I just cant fault my own . it was a bargain that ye can throw away if it breaks down after the warranty expires.


I guess if I used it more that 3 or 4 full days of the year I would buy a good one.

I wonder is this one any good for occasional use, my brother lives in Swansea so collection would be no problem. Wonder what's his bottom line on it.

Defo a stihl chainsaw is the best around. Also have a husqavarna, which has never let me down!

The ebay one has been delisted.

I would go for the Stihl. Husqvarna make great saws but the cheaper ones have a bit of a reputation for being fragile. It seems as if they made a cheap domestic saw to compete with Stihl.

I would have a haggle & get the Stihl for €250. The "budget" Stihls are still very good. I have a professional Stihl 200T tree surgeons saw which uses the same chain & bar as the cheap Stihl.

I recently felled & logged some huge 40 ft leylandi & it coped easily - it's about 12 years old !
