Would also reccomend those binoculars btw, got the same ones a year ago for a fiver more and they're great, really well made and a super crisp bright image from them, Bresser are a decent brand of Telescope and Binocular makers, good reviews from the Astronomy forum crowd aswell, definitely too big to take out on a bike though.

To make chain cleaning even easier buy a re-usable split link, take the chain off every couple of weeks, stick in a jam jar full of paraffin/petrol/diesel/gunk and shake, then shake some more, replace p/p/d/g and do it again. Rinse chain under tap and refit, very quick, easy and cheap, best way IMO.

Personally I found this substantially messier and more hassle than just leaving the chain on the bike and using a chain cleaner device.

Bought and installed the computer. Works fine so far and a great deal at €5.99. Of course also went for the 18 bottles of Stella Artois @ 11.99!

Curious if anybody on here bought one of the Lidl road bikes advertised last year and if so how are they keeping up and were they worth the money?

I bought one last year. They're a good bike for the money with decent Shimano wheels and full ultegra. There is a proviso however. The sizing chart should be treated with a grain of salt. I was a total newbie to road bikes last year and I bought from LIdl as there was a shortage of bikes in all LBSs during the summer. To cut a long story short I got the size wrong although I adhered to the size chart and now I'm investing in a new frame as the one I have is simply too big. For an experienced roadie they're a great bike if you know what you need but I would not recommend one to anyone new to the sport as the premium you pay to the LBS goes towards making sure you get the right bike for you in terms of service and sizing. When you go to Lidl you are completely on your own and only experienced cyclists should apply imo. Nice bike tho. I'm gonna repaint the frame in time and turn it into a flat bar single speed. :D

I'd definately get one again. If lidl were to do an updated version this year I'll be getting it.

Seriously? I can see the bike would be a good value at entrant level but getting another one? I thought your next bike would be an upgrade rather than buying the same bike 'updated'? Otherwise why not continue to use your existing bike.

opening hours for Monday: 10h00 - 21h00, so even if you are working during the day, you'll probably be OK for the evening.

would there be much/any difference in running socks and cycling socks ??

aldi are selling the running socks next week and they look very like cycling socks. i think they are 2.99 a pair - which is a lot cheaper than 20 in a bike shop for cycling socks.....

    thanks.
