Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone suggest free online file storage that would best suit me please?

I'm looking for something with 20gb or more, and that will allow multiple files to be uploaded at the same time (preferably no upload filesize limit).

I've been using Hotmail's "SkyDrive" but there is a file size upload limit and you can only upload 5 files at any one time (I've been trying to upload 100's of photos and its doing my head in!!!). I also have dropbox but the free space of 5gb is too small.

I've also looked at aDrive but not mad about it.

    So, anyone any suggestions?

Only 10 GB with the free account, 5 GB for media and 5 for non-media files, upload through web interface only
    Humyo
You can drag and drop through the web interface and it works with folders too. I tested it with a small folder only though.
If you take their premium account you get an application allowing automatic monitoring and upload.

20Gb of free storage is a bit of a pipe dream. Dropbox is a great bit of software, and do 50GB for a reasonable $10 a month, or 2GB free.

EDIT: Ok, hadn't heard of aDrive before. Might check that out as well.

for large files (up to 300MB) I use ifile.it

there's no waiting for downloads, no limitations etc like certain other "rapidshare" sites, and you can register for free to use an excellent file organiser

on downloading side you need to click "request download ticket" on the top left of download page and then click "download" in same spot, theres quite alot of ads on the site but thats compromise for unlimited bandwidth and storage, sort of like Gmail

    heres an example download >
    http://ifile.it/m3wo21a/9789264054530%20-%20OECD%20Economic%20Surveys%2C%20Ireland%202009.pdf

on the upload site, there is:
    * an api upload (i use alot from linux :D) > http://ifile.it/api
    * flash upload, progress and multi-file select on main page > http://ifile.it/
    * web drag and drop upload, with progress and multifile select > http://ifile.it/upload:plus
    * and plain old form upload > http://ifile.it/upload:classic

files expire in 90days after last download

basically you get a **** load of bandwidth and storage for free, you just have to put up with google ads in return on download pages

    heres my account stats

    enjoy ;)

    Thanks for that!

What do you mean "files expire in 90days after last download"? Does this mean if you don't download in 90 days all your files are deleted??

    Thanks again

Yeah, I use Dropbox too ... I have the max 5gb with referrals.

But I need an extra 20gb+ with no upload file limit and the ability to upload folders. For free!!

I know I'm not asking for much ;)

Hmmm my sky drive is 25 gigs, free storage, and I can upload hundreds of files, you just need to click the "Install Upload Tool".

Correct, I am using that for a while. Can upload hundreds of pics with simple drag and drop.

basically if you or someone (or group of people) who you shared a download link with dont download it in 90days, it gets removed

not a problem if you want to share the file and know it will be downloaded alot

i suppose that would be a main difference to a pure storage/backup service

Another vote for dropbox here. Very little user interaction required, it just does it's thing.

I especially love the public folder where you can right click the file on your pc and send someone a web link etc for it.

I use dropbox also, it's great and I am nearly up to 10gb free space (from referrals). Just replace your documents folder with the dropbox folder and you are away! Dropbox is better for online sync rather than storage (though it can also be a storage provider if used correctly).

I use a few other free services also for extra piece of mind:

Skydrive = 25GB for free, file size limit of 50mb so perfect for the mp3 collection. Uploading is a pain but if you install a free program called Gladinet you can do bulk uploads through windows explorer and upload folders

Live Mesh is a bit like dropbox, but gives 5gb of free space and syncs with your pc files. I actually use it for storage only. I uploaded all my photos, then I uninstalled the software so it won't keep syncing if I make changes to my pc folder structure.

A another little known one is Acrobat.com - free 5gb from Adobe. Uploading process is a bit like skydrive, only one file at a time. A prgram called cloudDrive is supposed to get around this but I couldn't get it to work properly on Win7.

I tried Adrive (free 50gb) but didn't like it and wouldn't trust my data there.

As i mentioned above, try Gladinet (free software) to bulk upload all your folders and files to skydrive .You can also create and rename folders from the skydrive web interface.
