Friends have mentioned two places to me - a "secret" Russian supermarket down a laneway
Not sure if this is what your looking for but there's a russian supermarket in granby place, near parnell square and down a laneway.

While accepting that this thread is now over 5 years old, I am wondering how many of the shops mentioned still exist, and how many others, if any, have opened since?

How much diversity is there in terms of places for immigrants to shop in Dublin?

Are there shops for those of the following backgrounds?; China, India, Russia, Poland, Italy, Jewish, Muslim, Philippine, Central Africa, North Africa, Brazil, Korea, Turkey....?

No doubt I've omitted some - but, which?

Do those that I have mentioned have shops that cater to them? If so, where are they?

I'm doing some research in this area and I'd be extremely grateful for any feedback.

    Many thanks in advance.

    D.

There is a shop up from The Church on Mary street, beside Millets camping. The lads serving have big long beards, white tunics and some of them have funny hats. The meat served is ḥalāl and there is North African or Arabic Muslim type music playing. Some people might find them selves outside their comfort zone.

Very friendly and helpful gang with a great range of fruit and veg. Very very cheap herbs and spices.

Yeah, this place is great - it's my favourite place to get tofu. And yer man is really sound.

There are enough Polish and Central European/Russian shops now that they have their own cash and carry/wholesalers. A Polish one beside LIDL in Artane, a Russian one in Charlestown - I'm sure there are plenty others.

There's a Brazilian shop in the Moore St Mall for sure. I can't imagine it's the only one in the city.

    Edit: nope, it's not: https://www.facebook.com/quitanda.dublin

And Elit, on Liffey St covers Brazilian as well as Turkish and Central American stuff as well: https://www.facebook.com/ELIT-234840873196803/

Oriental Emporium in Rathmines; nice people, good food, clean shop. Bigger branch of the same beside Jervis Luas stop still thriving.

Nice Korean restaurant in Capel Street - various other oriental restaurants along the street too.

African area around Parnell Street, lots of shops with traditional goods.

Arab shops down around Kelly's Corner; nice vegetables and spices are goodish value; I don't find them particularly friendly, but maybe that's because it's always men selling there.

Nice bike shop beside the Hospice run by a couple of Venezuelan guys.

Polish shop beside Lidl in Rathmines; traditional tight-lipped service but huge bunches of parsley and dill cheap there.
