    With so much time being spent by the powers that be on the name of the city being changed, should they spend more time looking at ways of getting people back to work and new jobs in all areas.

    They should, but the politicians are still sitting on places like seagate, first source, and foyleside as the be all and end all of employment in the city.

    People tend to forget that though jobs are advertised and splashed all over the papers, how many people quit or were fired to produce those jobs?

    For example in the case of seagate, the current number of temporary contract workers is far greater than the number of 'new jobs' going. So though there might be so many jobs going to be filled, many more people will soon be losing their jobs when their temporary contracts run out. Alternatively, seagate may just sack the people for 2 weeks and bring them back in as temporary, so as to not have to give them the same benefits that full time employees are given.

    It's a bit **** the way they can get away with the public spin on these things.
