Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey Guys,

You'll excuse me but i'm such a NEWB at photography.

Just in the middle of a beginners SLR course. Heading off travelling the world soon so wanted to do a course so I could take somewhat decent photos.

Im really interested in old style dream like 70s photos. I know they can be done with old film cameras but I'm wonder can anyone give me tips on how to do this using a digital camera.

I didnt think it was really possible but then I saw this photo:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/courtneybrooke/655784400/

which was taken with a digital camera.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Dee

WELL shes saying holga and polaroid, bunch of bull****
    its all photoshop, sadly.

you can just go to edit, adusments, color balance
and increase the cyan and yellow. Maybe a bit of brown gradient at the top.

then use a paper texture [deviantart.com] and set the layer mode to overlay or multiply.

get a grainy default brush, white and rub of some bits, or filter>dust option

i cant tell the integrity of that image, its turned out alright, rest are blatant though

buy one of those holga style plastic lenses for your camera (presumes you're using a DSLR)

Its called cross processing or vintage digital and there are TONS of tutorials online about how to do it.

    http://abduzeedo.com/cross-processed-lomo-effect-photoshop-tutorial

It can be completed quickly by messing with the Red, Green & Blue chanells seperaterly in a curves adjustment layer in photoshop

Heres is another way of doing it that is a lot easier if your not familiar with the ins and outs of photoshop.
Its a free shareware called ToyCamera_Analog

You could probably achieve a similar effect in Lightroom using presets...or if you have PS you could try Alien Skin Exposure 2.
