Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Where? Location... Time... day...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭Slidinginfinity

Dublin, sat or sun, when ever we can get people to show up.
I am unusually flexible this weekend. Ya know, while the wife's away and all.:D

I should be able to pop along. I have 2 cameras now.... woo hoo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭DutchGuy

If it's on Saturday I'll be there. Hopefully I'll get my Zorki 4 before then otherwise I'll just have one camera and feel inadequate...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,319 ✭✭✭sineadw

I need to shoot some film this weekend. I'll try to escape! Would have to be Saturday afternoon for me though.

    Looks like Saturday it is.
Threw this out there with out a plan for a location. Any ideas? I will be trying to come up with something new.

Glad you might come boardmann, I'll have to bring mine and it's less than perfect case, so you can have a look at the damage.:D

    Sounds like a yes;)

I'll be there! Wanted to ask already what the story is seeing it's already March.

Does one of you guys still have spare free film? Wouln't say no:)

And Saturday afternoon suits well. Just a thought, how about Phoenix Park or War Memorial Park or even St. Annes Park - I was too often along IFSC and Temple Bar recently...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Mr. Grieves

I may head along to this if I'm free. War Memorial Gardens is a good suggestion, can go into the IMMA grounds nearby too, nice place for photos.

Thanks! I wanted to go there for ages and get some, now that I call two film cameras mine. But didn't manage and won't before Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,393 ✭✭✭AnCatDubh

    Another thought to add to the suggestion list for consideration;

Isn't the funfair on Merrion Square back in operation - anyone know of any details?

Aw Id love to join ye but I'm working this weekend. :o Hopefully I'll get to develop some of the photos :) The usual discount still applies for boardsies.

Duff & Kate sorry to hear you can't make it.

Should we put location up for a vote here?

    Saturday afternoon: I'm thinking 1ish

location: either Phoenix/War memorial park or Merrion square, depending on interest.

I started this and will make the call if I have to, but would prefer a bit of collaboration.

I will pm out my mobile to everyone on Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 218 ✭✭DutchGuy

Either location sounds good to me. If forced to vote I'd say Merrion Square though as the fair thingy is only there for a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭Mr. Grieves

1ish sounds like a good time. My vote is for War Memorial Gardens. I want to try out my new lightmeter which just arrived in the post :)

I'll bring a few cameras, so if anyone wants to borrow one to shoot a roll of film, feel free. I've a Yashica Mat, a Canonet, an Olympus XA, a Canon Eos, a Holga and a Mamiya C220, but I won't bring them all! I'll shoot with the Mamiya I think.

    How about slightly earlier? 12ish?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,079 ✭✭✭xia

I'm basically flexible timewise. Just that I probably will have to go via Tallaght to pick uo the remaining exhibition pics and need to find parking (so not too early please). But that would be ok for both Merrion Square and War Memorial Park or whatever we (Slidinginfinity) decides for.

But agree with Dutchguy, as Merrion Square Fair is not on every day it mght be a good option this time and next time then a park...

Goin' against the Grain and saying the Phoenix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,220 ✭✭✭Slidinginfinity

3 votes for Merrion Square so, going to go with that.

    12:30ish (splitting the difference)
    Merrion Square

South west corner outside the park.

Not gonna make it :( Unless someone would like to write my dissertation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,015 ✭✭✭✭Kintarō Hattori

Pfft I have to go look up Merrion Square on a map. :p

Edit : Rightyo, that wasn't too difficult and I've been there before.

    I love writing dissertations!

Great I'll be there. Got very excited as my Zorki arrived today, but the film take up spool is missing so will have to wait for another few weeks before I get to use it :(

At least that means my other camera will get used for a bit longer I suppose. Unless any of ye happen to have a spare take up spool for a Zorki you'd be willing to lend me until mine arrives (I know it's a long shot...)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,393 ✭✭✭AnCatDubh

My day is shifting to later availability due to immovable constraints. Don't wait around for me. When I get around i'll keep eyes open for you all. Shouldn't be that hard to spot!

    Have fun.

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I just phoned to say I can't go because the door on the back of the camera keeps popping open. Is there anywhere in town that services old camera's? As far as I can tell the only problem is the little latch that keeps the back closed.

I should be able to repair that for you,

i restore/repair mainly OLD mechanical Rangefinders SL AND TLR's cameras,

    what camera is it ?
if its a SLR you have i presume it the lock pin latch thats broken,

    Noel

Thanks to all who came, wish the weather had been a bit better and that the fun fair had been running fully.

Will try for the War Memorial park next time around I think. (I have never been.)

Noel that would be brilliant. The camera is running absolutely fine, as you say it just seems to be the lock pin that's broken.

It's a Pentax ME Super. I'll send you a pm shortly.

Sorry folks. It was after 4pm before I got there so I guess everyone was gone home at that stage ;) I did have a wander around the fun fair but hmnnnn..... maybe I just wasn't on form for it but I found it decidedly unexciting. Hope everyone else got great shots cos mine are not likely to be very good :D Anyhow, again apologies I missed you people - war memorial next time perhaps.

Thanks again SL for the loan of the camera!

Might have to get an EOS film camera, I liked not being able to hold down continuous shooting! Anyone have any suggestions for me?

    Your welcome for the camera.

I don't Canon at all, but this guy seems to have a few for sale in Dublin.

I've one like this. Quite basic, but will use your EF lenses and will feel very familiar in the hand. And it's cheap.

I'll prob have some photos from yesterday up by tomorrow. Pity the weather wasn't like it was today!

    Hey guys,

I know I'm kinda hijacking the thread, but was the funfair really rubbish? I was hoping to get to it this week in the evening for some night shots, and also just for the craic...

Luckily, the gym is around the corner from my place.:p

    Really like this one!

who knew that lens (and your eye) could take such good shots.
I was going to sell that lens, going to have to rethink.

Took a bit of thinking to try and get something different all right!

Lens is quite good, not soft at all!
