When Gabriel lads the 450 splash is he actually hurting? I don't understand why he would pretend to be hurt as there is no gain for him doing so?

He's just selling it. It shouldn't hurt at all if he's doing it right (well all the force would be on his arms and knees/legs) Kayfabe-wise he's getting extra velocity by the extra turn and the impact hurts the opponent much worse than him. His selling is supposed to be "this hurt me, but it hurt him much worse"

Alright cheers! It does make him appear a bit weak though crying off everytime he does his finisher.

How far in advance are storylines made and results booked?

No definitive answer to this. Changes can be made to planned match results up until the moment a match begins.

Usually they have an idea of how a story is going to work out but very rarely do things go exactly as they plan. Someone might get injured or an angle mightn't be getting over so changes are made.

With WWE these days it seems anything is decided a week or two, a few days and or even a few hours in advance. Drew McIntyre was supposed to win Money In The Bank last year, and it was changed the day of the event. The only time storylines are booked well in advance it seems is Wrestlemania.

Has there ever been in a match where the kayfabe fighting has got serious and the opponents start throwing real punches and kicks or they break character and the ref needs to intervene? Anything along those lines ever happen? Any videos?

One I remember was a Perry Saturn vs random jobber match. IIRC, the jobber landed Saturn on his head, Saturn snapped and legit destroyed the guy. Again, iirc, the whole Moppy angle was a punishment for that.

    Happens all the time.

Pretty famous example that's mentioned above.

Also this one is pretty well known.

Didn't see too much wrong with that Saturn match really. Apart from throwing yer man out of the ring right on top of his head:eek:

RVD does it and Benoit used to with his flying headbutt. It doesn't make them look weak. The opposite I would have said myself tbh.

I think the problem is more that some people don't sell the impact of their finishers :S

Question: Say one was a budding writer and journalist and wanted to write for a wrestling magazine like FSM or Powerslam. What would be the best way to see about having someone give you a try out or take a look over a sample piece? Should I just email the editors and ask?

Why do I keep confusing Austin Aries with Rob "Just Look At Me" Conway?

I always thought it made them look a bit stupid to do a move that would hurt them so much! You don't see Punk wailing in pain for his knee after the GTS!

Best bet is to write a few sample articles (opinion pieces etc) and then attach them to an e-mail explaining the above to FSM/PS. They might be looking for someone who's been doing it for years so I'd recommend submitting regular articles to some wrestling websites to get published so they know you're not a joker and in it for the long haul. I'm sure Fin Martin and his many aliases would love all the help he can get!

If you're wondering what to write; I'd personally just look at this board, there's plenty of great discussion topics (eg "Can WWE ever get back to the glory days"). I'd also have a look at how long their opinion pieces are in the mag and write them to the same length. Best of luck!

He does wear knee pads and your knee is pretty strong and not that sensitive, so I don't see how it would make sense for it to hurt.

I like it when wrestlers sell their own moves. Wether its through struggling to apply the move, if it is a big power move, or if it is a top rope move.
It should be done in a 'He is putting everything on the line here' type way.

The 450 splash has been a huge success for Gabriel as as a whole. He probably doesn't need to pretend it hurts him in the process, as it is being sold tremendously well by the WWE anyway.

-Michael Cole does a good job of selling this move on commentary,

-Gabriel used this move as the finishing touch that put Vince, Steamboat, and others on the sidelines,

-There's a sense of anticipation everytime Gabriel is standing on the top turnbuckle and pauses for those 5 or 6 seconds.

it didnt hurt him either that the leader of Nexus and now the Corre's finsiher isnt as impactfull either which allowed Gabriel to take center stage with his splash

Why is Alex Riley carrying a briefcase?

As a gimmick, really. So people know who he is. It's something that makes him stand out, stupid as it is!

WWE could make sense of it by having A-Ri hold a see-through briefcase that holds Miz's WWE title, and only taking it out of the case when Miz gets to the ring.

No I highly doubt it

Its not the porn industry and hes been married for years.

    That is/was Batistas job.

I think Matt Hardy and CM Punk are leading the way in terms of Diva notches on the bedpost.

Hardy: Lita & Ashley. Who else do we know for sure?

Punk: Lita, Maria, Traci, possibly Beth depending on sources....Daphney?

Are WWE titles made from actual real gold and is there just one of each title or is there back ups?

No back ups, the title is yours to care for and if anything happens to it, its your problem. Jericho had his luggage delayed before at a ouse show while IC champ and had to wear the Women's title out tere as a replacement.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Another question: Where do smaller businesses like IWW & NLW get their title belts made?

And do you know how much they cost?
