Is Aleksander Rusev just going by 'Rusev' now in the same way Cesaro dropped his first name? Lana introduced him as such last night and the graphic also has it.

Edit- I see a few sites going with this. He's dropping it.

Has there been any more said about the possible cruiserweight program that was talked about when the WWE Network was being discussed before?

Nope, wasn't that just a rumour? Iirc, Dave Meltzer was asked it a while ago and he said he's heard nothing about it. Dan Lovranski of Live Audio Wrestling however, seems to think that the signing of Kenta and Bryan as champion signals a shift towards "smaller guys".

A bookmarking/playlist feature is supposed to be added to the network and with the Nitros due at some point and with all the WCW,ECW, WWF PPVs as well as Clash of the Champions up there we will he able to make our own little cruiserweight show!

WWE dont have the attention span for a Cruiserweight show. At one point they had a very strong division but got bored with it and before long Hornswoggle was champion and then it was gone altogether.

was Punk's "pipebomb" promo legit unscripted? I can't imagine the jabs about Vince being dead or calling Stephanie an idiot would have gone down well (although vince is known for a twisted sense of humour)

There's a user on reddit called Metsfan4ever who used to work on the writing team and he pretty much said that the promo was mostly sketched out beforehand.

    What lads said already.

But at the early stages of the WWE Network they did come up with concept art for the show. It was going to be called Livewire.

They've a lot of smaller talent that it could be viable. Also WWE was recently scouting luchadores in South America.

Just wondering did any of the lads from Tough Enough a few years ago make it ?
I know Andy won but failed Wellness and was cut. Luke and Martin were fairly good too

Well one of the women (the first person to be eliminated actually) is Cameron of the Funkadactyls. Dunno if that really counts as "making it" though.

Eh, lads, The Miz is a Tough Enough alumni. As too was John Morrison.

The former can be considered having 'made it'. Mind, it was a 'Mania main-event that everyone forgot outside of The Rock's interference, but he topped the summit for the briefest of moments.

I believe they meant the last one there was, not all of the Tough Enoughs.

Forgive me hastiness, I got lost in the moment of finally having trivia to impart.

Well I could be wrong, that's just how I took it :P

Josh Mathews! He was on the first Tough Enough, he couldn't do a moonsault, but is probably pretty high on the list of longest tenured employees in WWE!

Ryback was also on Tough Enough..same season as The Miz

When will the world title belts (WWE) be merged into one?

When they sell all the replicas of the new WWE title from 2013

Q: How often did guys like Abdullah the Butcher, Dusty Rhodes (and even New Jack) blade such that they ended up with notably scarred foreheads by retirement. Were they doing it every night?

Follow on, by comparison how often did guys like Stone Cold or The Rock etc blade such that they didn't end up with scarring? By that point was blading just saved for an occasional PPV match?

Austin, Rock and anyone else during the late 90s early 00s would only juice for PPV or on Raw and very rarely on Smackdown! to hotshot an angle. Never heard of them doing it at house shows or dark matches. Keep in mind that Austin and Rock had very short in-ring full-time careers.

Triple H probably bladed more than anyone in the WWE from the late-90s on.

Guys like Abdullah and Dusty probably cut a bit deeper, they sure seemed to bleed a lot more than guys in the attitude era

Cutting deeper would obviously mean that there's more of a chance for scars

For instance, Eddie Guerrero cut way too deep at Judgement Day 2004, resulting in too much blood and a nice scar for him after

It's worth noting that 'smarter' wrestlers blade themselves with a small nick along their forehead's tension lines as they heal without scarring. Deeper and oblique cuts result in horrible knacker scarring like Dusty etc.

What is the difference between a legend having a legends contract and not having a legends contract?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,860 ✭✭✭Ape Lincoln

A legends contract is a fancy name for a contract for a retired wrestler that allows the WWE use their image and likeness in things like DVDs and video games and i think they cover appearances.

A legend without a contract is [insert joke here]

Aye, Bret Hart would cut in the hairline. (Bret was always very safe with a blade.) Also, you can have minor surgeries to remove scar tissue as well as stuff like bio-oil to help remove scars.

I think it was Abdullah who used to place coins in the pits in his forehead as some kinda weird party trick.

    Re:Blading

    A story from yesterday:
--Jericho was on Opie & Anthony today and seemed frustrated that some fans get mad at him for venturing out of wrestling, noting that they complain and they'd rather see him with a low level indie guest on his podcast as opposed to a William Shatner. He said he's not opposed to going back to WWE but has things going on now. Jericho told a story about how he had a match with Batista years ago where Batista bladed, which was against the rules. He said that at the next TV, Batista was brought into a room with Dean Malenko and Vince McMahon, and they had a DVD with a secret ceiling camera that clearly showed Batista blading and how Batista was fined $100,000 and Jericho was fined $5,000. He said Batista not only paid the $100,000 fine, but also paid Jericho's fine.

Around 20:48 to 27:00. Worth a listen for the part about the camera angles Vince had as proof and his attempt to work the machine.

Nash has said (so who knows what the truth actually is) that the legends contract would allow him to wrestle elsewhere, even TNA, but they would be unable to promote him, advertise him, sell his merchandise etc. without permission from WWE. So, pointless for the other company.

It's pretty much WWE's way of keeping the older guys from appearing for other promotions as that might actually be of benifit to wrestling as a whole. Likewise with them attempting to sign every single breakout Indy guy they can. Just so others can't have them.

    Re:blading again

Strange thing what Wrestling on the brain does to you while reading news headlines: http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/girl-who-cut-her-forehead-in-tesco-fall-awarded-18k-in-damages-30270471.html

Next week we'll hear of someone matching rovert's description slipping in Tesco and getting busted open. :)

So the legend is Roddy Piper gigged himself in a supermarket as a scam when he was Wrestling in Portland. Everyone who was Wrestling with him said he did it but he denies it.
