Would HHH still be on a downside for his in-ring work at the minute seeing as he hadn't wrestled a match in a while or would his salary from his management position cover everything?

Likely the former as wrestlers have contracts that specify they perform in-ring. For instance, on-air talent have spearate contracts that do not specify wrestling as part of their job.

I remember reading recently that his missus was getting two pay packets 1) for her on screen role and the second for her behind the scenes work so assuming my memory and what its remembering is true then im sure Hunter would be picking up double wages too.

Also, H was legit fined for the chairshot to Undertaker's head a few years back and he was working in the office then.

Anyone know when the WM30 paychecks are due to be sent out?
Would be interesting to see what the backstage fallout will be like if people are getting considerably less than previous years due to the network.

At least 90 days after the event. Going by when WWE was 100% PPV as that was when the the PPV providers would pay WWE.

Has anyone here seen videos or pictures of how the buried alive match actually works. I mean I get that the guy isn't buried for real but how exactly is it done.

There was a show that revealed how magic tricks were performed and the buried alive gimmick was one of them. WWE likely use the same method

I'm almost sure I remember seeing a production mistake during a Buried Alive match where they accidentally showed the Undertaker (think it was him) rolling out of the grave into the side area. Or at least in the area beside the grave when he was supposed to be in the grave.

I even remember the Youtube comments joking that someone must have got fired for it. Can't find it now though - anyone got any ideas?

Not sure if this has been asked before .... But what exactly happened with Joey Cabray and WWE?

I heard he reported to the developmental centre last year but 5/6 weeks later he was released  I only ask because it's very unusual for a person who clearly had to have something about them to get signed, but then got released so quickly.

Doesn't ring a bell. I saw the Survivor Series 2003 match live and don't recall seeing this. Might Botchamania have picked it up?

    What's HHH like as a person off-screen?

He seems to be humorous enough. Is the ego stuff built up?

He's said to be really lovely to fans, but non-WWE-contracted wrestlers/creative team members and years of reports from every news site say he's an insecure, ego-driven prick. I imagine he's not anywhere near as bad now since he's not a full-time wrestler and is too busy running WWE, but all recounts say he was a colossal a**hole especially from 2003 onwards. The type of guy who was engaged to and living with Chyna whilst having an affair with Stephanie.

There's a story from I think around the time he was World champion where upon a writer handing him that evening's script he replied "am I fu*king going over?", grabbed the script and threw it on the floor.

4Is there any reason Batista wrestles in Jordan's rather than standard wrestling boots? Is it for the comfort? Is it meant to be part of his gimmick? I know Cena wears runners as well but I always figured that to be linked to his rapper/"Dr of Thugamonics" days.

Never knew Batista wore Jordans, but as far as I'm aware Cena has a deal with Reebock.

Teddy was the Senior Advisor to the SmackDown General Manager until Vickie got that job back at which point he was escorted out of the building by her. I'm not sure what his backstage role is but I believe he is still employed by the WWE but he hasn't had an onscreen role since them...tag team match...something something...Playa Playa

The last role I saw him fill was as a source of putdowns on the JBL & Cole show. Even then, that must've been a year ago, before it became this weird, and occasionally brilliant, postmodernist soap-opera.

He's easy to make fun of. When Vince rips on him, he doesn't say anything back. Why does any bully pick on anyone

They played a brilliant face/heel combo back during the Invasion

Q: Is there some reason why WWF on more than one occasion booked "14 man elimination
tournaments" as opposed to a more regular 16 man setup (eg Wrestlemania IV and Survivor Series 98).

Is it so they can sell the PPV with a least one "big" match already in place (eg Hogan v Andre etc)?. However, if so then I don't get why they couldn't just make "Hogan v Andre" or "Undertaker v Kane, SS98) a first round match?)

Also wrt to when these tournaments are in progress is there some explanation for the "bye" system (whereby a drawn match eliminates both competitors and the scheduled opponents gets to advance into the next round).

I could understood from a storyline pov having a bye system if the heel always got the bye because it gives him an unfair advantage against the tired 'underdog' face, but it seems most times it doesn't even work out that way. For example in SS98 it was the face Steve Austin got the bye. Similarly in the "Wrestling Classic" in 1985 the Junkyard Dog got a bye. So it doesn't even seem to be in place for storytelling purposes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Kayfabe-wise I'd see having 1st round byes as a token gesture for being "#1 contender" but WWF having a tournament instead. (Hogan/Andre title match ended in controversy, Taker/Kane should've been champion by the end of Judgment Day 98).

With unexpected byes, I imagine it's so they have less tournament matches. Or perhaps to show that it's a "legit" tournament, and odd things occur (like JYD's bye). Austin's bye is intended to swerve you (as he was the expected winner, so he'd have one less match to wrestle). That Deadly Game tournament had Russo written all over it!

When a wrestlers t-shirt sells,we know they get piece of sales but what the deal with faction shirts

More specifically when members change, like with nexus, when likes of tarver left and Harris,McGillicutty came in,did tarver stop getting royalties and other 2 get them?

Or NWO ,as more joined did they all start gettin percentage?

Percentages depend on the guy. There were reports about two years ago that Cena had the highest percentages of t-shirt merch in WWE (pretty obvious he would given his position :p ) His percentage was something like 20-30% if I recall correctly. But that only came out because there was a scandal about t-shirt royalities within WWE. Some guys were getting 5% and 'accordingly' someguys were getting zero. Guys like Zack Ryder were names mentioned. Who knows if he was indeed getting nothing or next to nothing.

But t-shirt merch is a perk thats given after a while when WWE feels your shirts will sell. A guy can be around for a couple of years before given one. So as for the Nexus when they debuted. It's safe to say they didn't get a cut.

As for the NWO in WCW 1996/1998... Only Hall, Nash and Hogan got t-shirt royalities. Which, when you hear that, makes you realise why all 3 had no issue with other people joining :pac:

He's southern and is a "rasslin" commentator and Vince hates those two things.
