Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I`m looking for around for a car and came across an `05 Audi A6 tdi.
Its being sold privatly and the asking price is 7k less than the cheapest same spec model with similar milage on carzone!
It`s nct`d, taxed, full leather etc....over 100k in the clock but that wouldn`t worry me.
I`m very tempted to view but it seems too cheap so my question is it too good to be true?

    1 of 3 things:

    1. its not on Irish plates and you will have to pay VRT
    2. scam of some sort with long story as to why its a bargain and you have to travel to the uk to view it/pay by western union...
    3. Its a bargain..which I doubt very much but hope it to be the case

Too cheap. Looks like a scam or else a typo. €16500 maybe?

The old shape didn't have the 2.0 TDi engine though.

OP, there is no mention of a phone number in the advert, only an email contact. Usually if it is a scam the number will be disconnected or fake and you will have to make contact with the scammer by e-mail. These scammers very rarely like direct contact with their potential victims.

This has all the hallmarks of a scam.

if i were you, I'd contact the seller to confirm its still for sale and that theres no stupid stories before you try to view it. If the seller confirms its available to view, then I would use cartell.ie or similar to get a full report on the car, if all still looks ok and the details match up with that of the seller/owner, then go view it....

no harm in asking why he is selling it so cheap either..

Yeah, not meaning to offend but the car seems a little out of place in its surroundings.

do a serch for an identical car on all the usual sites and see if a scammer has just robbed the pictures from somewhere

It seems a bit suspect, too cheap and no contact number. If you do decide to view it check the chassis number on the car matchs the book as well as doing a hpi check etc.

Sent email to seller but tbh don`t think I`ll bother going any further.
I`m not comfortable with the price\location\no contact number, none of it looks right.I`m not even that big a fan of the car just liked the price!

You will never know, mightt be a typo, no harm in e-mailing to see if price is correct.

I'm open to correction here but I'm 99% sure that the 2.0TDI in the A6 has twin exhaust pipes facing down and the petrol models have twin horizontal exhaust pipes... this car claims to be a diesel but has petrol exhausts...

I' reckon that the "seller" (and I use that term loosely) says he is abroad and wants you to pay a large deposit before he will fly home to meet you so you can view the car, or maybe he and the car are abroad and he wants you to pay for it, then he will ship it back to you.....or some other garbage.

Sure, if its a genuine car, genuinely for sale in Ireland, by an permanent Irish resident, I'll buy you the damn thing myself :P

Get real guys, who tries to sell a car without putting in a contact number

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
