is it possible to get an outdoor motion detector that will set off an audio signal indoors.or even if the detector could trigger a light fitting inside the house.it would mean if you were asleep in the house instead of the outdoor light coming on,the plugged in fitting eg radio or table lamp would activate and you would be alerted to the outside motion.

You can switch almost anything with a PIR as long as it does not exceed the rated wattage, most are generally up to 1000Watts, which is 4 Amps. You would have to make sure it abides by the regs, not sure if it would or not

Even if you want a higer rating you could use a relay. SigNet can do this with X10

i saw in DIY shop (Woodies or B&Q) a similar system for less than 30 euro, one unit outside on batteries and other inside mains powered and when activated is generating a sound to alert you...easy to fit and use !
