finishing a degree started elsewhere

I completed first year in an english and history degree in the university of limerick a few years back and went into 2nd year which i didnt complete, i was wondering is it possible to finish this degree externally or through distance learning, or if not then would i be able to transfer to UCD or another college to complete…
