Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cannavaro sent off. Took out Gera when Zamora had set him through on goal. Deserved.

1825: RED CARD Juventus's Fabio Cannavaro

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

It's funny... I was in the middle of a post about how dirty Juve were at the back when Cannavaro got sent off. Fulham had a valid case for penalty on at least two occasions because of holding and shoving from the Juve defenders. I know it's a fairly regular occurrence but it's rare you see a team as blatant at it., they get away with it like only an Italian team can.

    Come on Juve!!

I can see Fulham scoring 1 or 2 more, but not what they need to. 4? I'm slow today :o

    Another 2 for extra time.

Are you mad? It was a good pass, a perfectly timed run, Cannavaro was left for dead and Gera had no one between him and the goalkeeper. The left back had at least 5 yards to make up on Gera, maybe he would have but Christ you cannot deny it was a goal scoring opportunity! All Gera had to do was get a boot to it, but Cannavaro made sure that didn't happen.

Werder Bremen 1 Valencia 3 (David Villa 45).

Very important for Italian Football that Juve goes through tonight. If they go out Italy will with 99% certainty loose their 4th CL place to germany from 2011/2012.

Love to see Fulham pull this off. Not confident though.

Having seen the replays, the Cannavaro sending off was very harsh. I think Grosso would've gotten to the Fulham striker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Cannavaro was ridiculous in that half.

the tackle that got him sent off wasn't worthy, but the accumilation of the rest of the fouls that should've seen yellows at least, meant he can have few complaints really.

They block it cause Setanta Ireland have the rights so they are showing it. If you don't have setanta ireland then you're screwed.

Can you imagine Gazzetta Dello Sports newsroom right now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Again this is why I dotn like away goals. 1 Juve goal would undo all of Fulhams good work even if they score again. Plus Juve have an extra half hou to get that extra away goal.

agreed, after 90 mins away goals should stop counting imo

Yep and so are Juve. On 2 channels(3 if you have ESPN and ESPN HD and 4 if you have ntl and count Setanta twice cos it's on the EPG twice :) ) would you believe.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Damn, why would they show the first leg on ITV4 and not the second? :(

no problem with Away goals within the 2 90 minutes, but it's ridiculous that if there was 30 minutes added time that away goals still count, all though you could argue the home team has an advantage for the 30 minutes too.

IvySlayer, BBC4 have never and will never show football!

Werder Bremen 2 (Torsten Frings Pen 57) Valencia 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Duff should have squared that to the edge of the box.

Should have been a free on the edge first though.

Fulham would have an unfair advantage of playing at home for 30mins longer than Juve.

The way it is, is fine.

    Penalty number 2?

    Should've been.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭DubDani

EL is great. Just watching the game between Bremen and Valencia. Currently 3-3 with 30 minutes to go. And Bremen is going for a 4th right now..

Somehow a lot of the EL games I have seen this year much more entertaining then the CL games I watched. Some comical defending overall these days...

Valenica goes 4-3 ahead on the day, and I am certain that's not the last goal yet.
