    Hi,
I have a Sony STR-DH800 and would like to purchase some reasonable quality speakers. I'm torn between the Monitor Audio Vector 5.1 and the Tannoy SFX 5.1 on the Richersounds website.

Any advice on which would sound better with the sony receiver would be greatly appreciated. Or is there is anything better I missed in the same price range (sub €500) .

I'm new to this and although I've tried reading up as much as possible, and have heard the Tannoy seem to sound well with the Sony STR-DH800 I couldn't find anything specific in relation to the Monitor Audio Vector.

    Scobie,

you have picked two of the best 5.1 packs around - the only other one I would include is the Boston Soundware XS 5.1 which we can do at £299.95 ( It's normally £399.95) - However out of the 3 systems we are talking about there is no doubt whatsoever that the Monitor Audio Vector is head and shoulders above the other two, followed by the Bostons then the Tannoy!

Drop me a line if you would like us to reserve any of these for you and apologies for the delay getting back to you!

    Hi John,
Thanks for getting back. When I didn't hear anything I was afraid I'd asked a dumb question as I really don't know much about this area. I went ahead and ordered the Monitor Audio Vectors from your website so it was good to hear it was a good choice and that they are a better speaker. Looking forward to getting them now,
    Scobie:D

    I think you'll love it !

Would the Marentz NR1501 AV amp be a good match for those speakers (i.e. the MA Vectors)?

    Hi there.

Yes, the Marantz receiver will work well with the Vectors. It will certainly power them well enough and the sound quality from the Marantz is great.

Marantz have a good bottom end from their receivers so it will also get the best from the sub.

I hope this helps, but let me know if you need anything else.

    Regards

    Dave
