A song covered by Christie Moore but great lyrics...
Life is an ocean, love is a boat
In troubled waters it keeps us afloat

    Cheesy but good

They're a really good Irish band. A lot of energy. Lyrics are quite strange but but who cares? It's indie music at it's finest.

Agreed, great lyrics. Another classic from Jake Summers...
    Hey you, what's-your-face
I have a pocket full of fists, you got a stupid face
    Hey you, know your place
You're like Kentucky fried chicken but without the taste

Or from Lend Me Your Face
I wanna cut you with glass
You haven't got such a pretty ass now
Wanna put you in a cast
And cast off all my memories of where you been at

    Lend me your face
    Lend me your face
    Lend me your face
I'll bust it up and I'll replace it

    :D
She slips into the night, and she is gone
Gone to settle the score, gone into the town
    Rain shining in her eyes
    Her brother started school
Again today, a thought to pass the time
To occupy my mind, while I'm waiting for her

Unicorn by The Irish Rovers...inspirational lyrics :D

Green aligators and long neck geese
some humpty back camels and some chimpanzees
some cats and rats and elephants but sure as youre born
the loveliest of them all was the unicorn

    Paul Brady - the Island

They're raising banners over by the markets,
Whitewashing slogans on the shipyard walls,
Witchdoctors praying for a mighty showdown,
No way our holy flag is gonna fall,
Up here we sacrifice our children,
To feed the worn out dreams of yesterday,
And teach them dying will lead us into glory...

    They're all in vain

Ash - A Life Less Ordinary

You were conceived in heart, came like a dream
To save me from my mortality
Put on your dress white Goddess
And settle in as the weather folds
Our arms will be entwined even when I die
You'll see me through till the end of time
No earthly bride the most beautiful star in the world, in the air, on my tongue
Before my eyes, beyond the stars, beneath the sun
So take me in your arms again, lead me in my dreams again
So what is it worth? I'd sell my soul
What is it worth? Only you know.

Sorry about that, but it was worth a try! :P

My real favourite lyrics are from Pledge by Kerbdog:

Sub-standard sounds, stand and take a bow
    Pat each other's back
Oh really can't you feel it now
    You can blow your trumpet
I don't have to listen in
Unfortunate like mine it's just another din

    Frand & Walters - Michael
Oh Michael, don't you know you were meant to ride your bicycle
That car of yours does not suit the colour of your eyes my friend,
So smile and ride your bicycle,
So smile and ride your bicycle,
So smile and ride your bicycle,
So smile and ride your bicycle.

    You never really look down
'Cause you're afraid that you'll see the ground
And maybe you're afraid of heights
You've got an awfully long way to fall my friend,
So cycle with your head in the clouds

Cycle with your head in the clouds.

So it's D-day, wonder will there be an early announcement or did Darragh and Crew have a heavy one last night.

    And St Patrick's returned to his cave having gorged on snakes and irish spirit;

    but he will return;

    and we must be ready....

    Come on Ash tickets!!

JOXER!!! the whole song but in particular these verses get me every time, a staple song for any trip away from home!!

As soon as we found Stuttgart we got the wagons in a ring
Sean Og got out the banjo and Peter played the mandolin
There was fans there from everywhere attracted by the sound
At the first Fleadh Ceoil in Europe, and Joxer passed the flagon round

    and:

The next morning none of the experts gave us the slightest chance
They said the English team would lead us on a merry dance
With their Union Jacks all them English fans for victory they were set
Until Ray Houghton got the ball and he stuck it in the net.

What happened next is history, brought tears to many eyes
That day will be the highlight of many people's lives
Joxer climbed right over the top and the last time he was seen
Was arm in arm with Jack Charlton singing, Revenge for Skibereen

always gives me hope of that upset!!!

    Sand ran through my fingers
    And the land was hot
Anointed by Apollo and his chariot
    Disarmed by your charm

That night I felt it again
    Addictive and consuming
    Love's sweet pain

    Ash - Walking Barefoot.

Great show last night. Nice to see Ash back after all this time. Really loving some of their new songs.

Great night though and very much enjoyed it.

Only caught the last couple of songs from Republic Of Loose because myself and a mate got lost looking for the place. Seemed ok though.
