How well do you eat?

[quote=[Deleted User];64918065]Ever heard of diabetes? Or any number of health issues that mean you can't eat what you want? It isn't about getting fat. All the exercise in the world won't change the fact that eating junk is really bad for you. Anyone who thinks a diet of burgers and chips isn't impacting their general health is living in cloud cuckoo land. Those 'my body is a temple' types are a bit annoying but they're generally right. Food is fuel for your body, how is it supposed to run properly if you fill it with crap? I notice a tremendous difference in how I feel depending on if I've had a salad or stew for lunch compared to chipper food.

I just like high quality food where possible. I don't eat like a rabbit, but I don't see the point in eating rubbish food (except for hungover kebabs or Burger King once in a while). I'd rather have a really good, homemade burger with fresh salad and homemade wedges than a McDonald's meal. A simple homemade pasta dish with chopped tomatoes and parmesan is healthier and cheaper than one of those awful Bachelor's packets you add water to. I ate quite badly as a teenager when I couldn't cook and I shudder to think of some of the rubbish I used to eat. My sister still eats like that and I hate seeing her eat Super Noodles and ready meals every day. No wonder she's always tired and run down. There's just no reason to live off junk food, imo.

Homemade chips and a homemade burger for me any day too, or even a good local chipper before McDonalds. I'm also a salad lover. Although there's a KFC literally next to where I work that I do use occasionally (as it's handy and it's the only place actually open sometimes), I couldn't eat it more than once a week though. This award winning documentary illustrates your points very well...

I eat quite well and am generally fit and healthy, however i compliment this with occasional (at one time twice or thrice weekly) drink and drug binges, so it's kind of swings and roundabouts. I think what's important is enjoying yourself, no one wants to be 90 years old on their death bed and think, "f.uck i've wasted 90 years" better, i think, to be 70 on your death bed and think "f.uck, i've squeezed 100 years of living into that short time"

That's my philosophy, for those who are interested:D

Lately, I've started preparing and cooking meals myself. But for years I lived on pizza and microwave meals.

I found the home made meals taste better, are cheaper & only take a few extra minutes to make (5-10min at most).

And whilst I do try to eat healthy, I can't resist chocolate...chocolate yogurts, bars, spread, drinks etc. I'm a chocoholic and actually feel kinda 'down' when I don't it any for a while. Chocolate is my coffee...my alcohol....my cigarettes.

Very little processed food, lots of fish, lean meat, veg and whole grain stuff.

I just eat what I like, basically, but I have a wide range of tastes and can cook so I suppose I eat well, whatever that means.

With the recession my job has gotten more demanding as theres more work for less people. I tend to work very late so cooking can be an extra task too much for me. If I cook I'd usually have something awful for me that is quick so I can just get it over with and chill out before bed

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

    AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

    1. The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.

    2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.

    3. The Chinese drink very little red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.

    4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.

    5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats
and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.

    CONCLUSION:

Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you

So theres no english speakers in Mexico, Japan, China, Italy or Germany?
