Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Downloading From a Canon 10D

    A friend has lent me his 2nd camera, a 7 year old Canon 10D. I've taken about 200 photos on it, and I now want to download them to my laptop (Windows 7). I thought that they would download automatically like from my compact. However, it doesn't recognise the device. I've also tried on my daughter's XP laptop, with the same result.

    I looked at Canon's website, and there are loads of drivers available. I'm not sure, however, which is the correct one to download.

    Can anyone help me find the correct driver to download the photos?

    Far simpler method would be to use a card reader and leave your software alone

    Is the firmware on it the latest version? i wouldn't go messing with drivers either, as suggested buy or borrow a card reader. Most new pcs have them built into the tower, have a check.

    Deffo go for the card reader option- the 10D takes aaaaaaaaaaaages, and it's doubtful they've updated drivers for Windows 7 yet.

    When you connect camera to computer Windows 7 should recognise it as an external storage source. I have Windows 7 Ultimate and it recognises every camera which I have connected. After you connect the camera check "my Computer" and see if you can see a new drive.

    AFAIK Canon camera's don't show up as mass storage devices, you have to open a photo program and import from there -if you have picassa or similar, try launching that and importing the images...
