Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spybot Search and Destroy is v good and free
It adds a list of blocked sites to Your hosts file to block them, has browser plugins that protect Your browsing and locks Your home page

    SUPERAntiSpyware is also good.

Never any harm to have a few of them in the locker, MalwareBytes is another quality program for the list

I use Spybot and Ad-aware myself. Don't have them set up with live protection but run scans on both once a week. Spybot lets you immunise your system so it blocks lists of sites and malware automatically.

Yeap another vote for Spybot from me.
Lots of updates and just remember to close your internet browser before you run it as it finds more problems then.

Also Microsoft Malware programs comes out once a month and is very handy ...

Threatfire is good and ads an extra level of protection and can be used alongside Avast and other AV's, without conflicts:

ThreatFire AntiVirus - Behavioral Virus and Spyware Protection

The others mentioned are all good, but Malwarebytes is an essential to me. Free version is perfectly fine.

    SpywareBlaster is also very good:
SpywareBlaster® | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download.

Really, all you need is some common sense, and you'll be fine, but if you really want to be protected, I'd suggest:

    Antivirus - Avast!
    Spyware - Spybot
Everything else - Microsoft Security Essentials
    Pure uselessness - Live OneCare

Best to have more than 1 anti-spyware, as some might pick up on what others don't. I use Spybot Search and Destroy, Malware Bytes and SUPERAnti-Spyware.

Both Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials are antivirus programs, although its a good idea to have more than 1 spyware program, its a BIG NO NO to have more than 1 antivirus as they'll conflict and besides that will slow Your pc to shít.

Edit, I'm pretty sure Live OneCare is also an antivirus meaning You have 3

Can you set MSE as on demand, maybe that is what he means?

The worry I'd have about running Spybot or whatever alongside the current free AV's is that the likes of Avast and Avira now have Anti Malware protection too and may conflict.

I'd prefer a firewall like Online Armor or PC Tools alongside the newer free AV's, rather than another Anti Malware product. Use Spybot etc as on demand back ups. Spyware Blaster is a different type of product again, as is Threatfire.
