Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What could this be? A futuristic mood ring? An artist's rendering of a wormhole? Nah. Those are too abstract. This is based on something all too real, and totally inescapable.

What you're looking at is a project from Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg called Flickr Flow. It's a look at how the colors in Flickr images of the Boston Common change with every season:

Our software calculated the relative proportions of different colors seen in photos taken in each month of the year, and plotted them on a wheel... Summer is at the top, with time proceeding clockwise.

The ebb and flow of time, the passage of seasons, in a neverending circle. Poetry

    Pretty cool :)

    That's really interesting Tallon.

When you say "Our software..." does that include you personally?

I thought is was a shot looking down into a mug I bought in Urban Outfitters.

Seen that the other day [think it popped up on stumble, or maybe it was in a thread on Flickr?] - It's ... predictable. i mean, if asked what you thought the most common colours in photos for each season were, you'd most likely say 'Winter: White, Summer: yellow/blue, Autumn: brown, Spring: green'

    No surprises there then.
