    Reina
    Johnson---Carra
    Agger
    Insua
    Masch
    Aquilani
    Maxi
    Gerrrard
    Babel
    Torres

Would prefer to see Babel on the right with Maxi on the left.

Gerrard and Aquilani could be the other way round too.

    Wow....

Babel and Aquilani both get starts and Kuyt doesn't?!

    Is Rafa still in charge?!

Looks a little more hopeful. Decent bench hope its not needed but if it is that Rafa doesn't sweat us until the 70th minute.

Thats the best team he could have put out.. delighted that both Babel and Aquilani get a start.

Time for Gerrard to pick it up too..

    i'll stick with 3-0

Props to Rafa for including Babel and Aquilani. Delighted to see those two included. Hopefully they will seize the opportunity to impress. Would have preferred Benny to be in there instead of Maxi but I suppose he could be an effective impact sub if brought on in the second half. Brave, ballsy selection. I am happy to see Rafa's ambition to go out and thrash this Portsmouth team.

Upon seeing the team, with the hugely ineffective Kuyt on the bench, I actually think we will win this. Discard my earlier prediction. 2-0 to Liverpool!:D

    Hallelulah no Kuyt.

    Obviously Benni not fully fit.

Wonder if there will be much interchange between Gerrard and Aquilani.

    Come on Livepool.

Very happy with the team. Kuyt and Lucas benched should light a fire under underperforming players. Aquilani, Maxi and Babel all have a chance to stake their claim for a regular starting place.

That is an impressive looking line up, my confidence is returning.... should be 3 points...and then Sunday.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Say what you want about Kuyt, he's still your second highest goal scorer :p

I like him, puts it a good shift, but can be **** for you guys. Problem is if he plays bad Rafa will keep him on.

The Reds side in full is: Reina, Insua, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Mascherano, Aquilani, Gerrard, Babel, Rodriguez, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Kyrgiakos, Ngog, Benayoun, Kuyt, Lucas, Kelly.

    Reina

    Johnson---Carra----Agger----Insua

    Masch---Aquilani

    Maxi
    Gerrard
    Babel

    Torres

Kuyt benched! Good team, but would rather Yossi than Maxi. Dont know what Maxi has done to get so much gametime...

    Speaks Spanish prolly helps.

Does rafa have an eye on the game on thursday I reckon lucas and kuyt are being rested instead of benched if this were a better team they would be playing imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭ilovelamp2000

There's likely to be goals at both ends given that lineup.

We don't defend all to well with Insua and Johnson in the side, but at least it might be entertaining

Id say Thursday is on Rafas mind hence Kuyt and Lucas being rested as opposed to "benched"
Delighted with this team and Im now actually looking forward to watching this, albeit online!
    4-1 the Pool

Gonna be a lot of goals in this one.
    6-2 :-)

Have to say that I'm really liking the lineup however I am worried that if they dont produce the goods tonight that we may never see this lineup again...

    Aquilani starts?

something very odd about that :)

Maxi though, in fairness he has shown nothing since he arrived, is Kuyt being punished for bad performances?

I'd like to think that but he's most likely being rested what with the United game coming up :(

In the first five minutes this is the most fluid I've seen Liverpool this season. 5nil win.

Ah! Gerrard skies it, on the end of a nice little move there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

Playing with an attacking intensity that I havent seen in a long time. Great to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,385 ✭✭✭✭D'Agger

Good to see Aquilani making himself busy, there's a good pace to our attack with Glen and Insua getting down the wings, Maxis doing ok so far aswell

Great play - shows what Aquilani can offer - he was with Mascherano in his own half when the move started, great run

    Ahhh Babel hit it yourself!!

I'm in shock! The place is rocking and the play is too. No kuyt = pace and angles!

lol, there's a lot more to the good play thus far than Kuyt's absence.

It's fantastic to see after enduring so much shít football so far this season - very impressive so far just hope it lasts and we don't become frustrated if we don't score. Keep playing like this though and the chances will flow our way Im convinced

That was nice and calm from Maxi by the way, I think a lot of players would just try to put keeper and ball into the net from there and wonder about it later.
