Try clicking the restore to factory button in iTunes? That worked for me, now fully unlocked and using my iPhone in China with China Unicom.

    Hi Lads,

Don't mean to be a nuisance but sent a PM on Friday and haven't heard anything back - is there a bit of a backlog or did the PM not arrive?

Same here, I sent a pm on Monday and haven't heard anything. Anyone know if I can go into an O2 shop and ask for an unlock? I've already switched to a vodafone contract.

    Thanks

Anyone know if you can request an unlock during your contract?

I am 12 months through an 18 month contract?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 155 ✭✭japasca

    Daryll,

I've already sent you a PM regarding my unlocking code. can you please confirm that you have received it?

    Many thanks,

    Japasca

How do you check your phone is unlocked without sticking a vodafone sim into it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,507 ✭✭✭nitromaster

    Hi Paddy

A while back i mailed you and got the reply that i need to spend 80 euro more to be eligible.
I'm guessing this is connected to the original number which came with my phone?
If so, I only used that number for 6 or 7 months after purchasing the phone (originally bought in december 2008), I've since used another number, and other numbers with it. (just suited me better to use my number i'd normally use for business with the iphone eventually, as it fulfilled my business needs by then so i swapped to it full time)

I've definately spent over 80 euro since then on credit, however as the amount seems attached to the original sim card i guess this is why i'm not eliglble? Is there anything that can be done in this situation?

    Thanks

Darryl, First off thanks for sharing the news!
Secondly, is there any way of having the iphone unlocked officially if the stated requirements are not met? i.e phone bought on prepay, immediately jailbroken and original o2 sim never used and no longer available?
    Thanks again!
    Banie

    Daryll/o2 crew,
Further to this message a few months ago....
I am soon emigrating and while I have my Iphone Jailbroken/unlocked I would like to have my phone unlocked if possible to save me having any problems with it while I'm abroad.
As I stated earlier, I bought the phone on prepay and it has never been used on o2(Don't even have the original sim anymore).
Is there any way I can get this unlocked? I know that o2 UK offer the unlock for £15, Do o2 Ireland offer anything similar?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer

O2 have submitted your unlock request for iPhone IMEI
to Apple. Apple should unlock the device via iTunes within the next two weeks. O2.

Does this mean i am successful??

    Hi,

I'm living abroad, I bought my iPhone from a friend. I only have his name, because he kept the SIM for him. Can the unlock be made so I can use the phone here where I live?

Anything that could be done regarding this? :)
Would love to get the new one on o2 as they are overall the best network :) But that depends on whether i can get this one sorted. :)

I bought my 3GS last september through a gumtree ad, and at the time of purchase I was under the impression it was locked to o2 IRL. I didn't check this out as I immediately jailbroke and unlocked it. I decided I wanted it officially unlocked by apple so I registered it to my o2 SIM. A couple of months ago I went to my local o2 store and requested it to be unlocked, but was told that it is not an o2 IRL device. I rang apple but was told to ring o2, and vice versa. I assume now it is locked to o2 UK, so I eventually rang o2 UK but they could not confirm it for me. But even if it is locked to o2 uk, they are charging a fee to unlock. Is there anything that can be done in my situation as I have definitely spent over the required amount of credit on my o2 IRL SIM.

Got approved for an O2 iPhone unlock and received an email from O2 saying "To complete the unlock, connect the device to iTunes with a Sim never used in the iPhone"

Probably a silly question but do I just stick someone else's sim into my iPhone and then connect to iTunes, do whatever needs to be done, and then disconnect from iTunes and put my Sim back in and then I can just use the iPhone/Sim as normal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,587 ✭✭✭✭guil

sync with a diff sim and a message should come up to say its unlocked, if it doesnt work do a restore and ya will get the message

    hi guys!

i purchased a jailbroken iphone yesterday off adverts.ie i would like to get it properly unlocked as i have a data plan with another carrier and am using it with it for the time being the phone was previously locked to o2 i have 2 phone numbers one a bill pay on V...... and the other a prepay with o2 this is my number for private use the other is used for work mostly

the phone was obviously bought second hand,
my 02 prepay number definitely has well over the 150 requirement can this be used to unlock this handset ?
    i am registered on o2.ie ,
and have just now registered on o2 forum as focusowner

do u think all criteria are now met ?

    any help appreciated

I just got a new iphone 3gs from O2 on contract. Will it be possible to get the unlock immediately or do you generally have to wait for a few months to be eligible to unlock?

No this does not apply to you.

Hi, I am in the same boat though I now live in Singapore and only sparingly use my speakeasy account. I explained my situation as above and got a mail from O2 that the unlock code request had gone to Apple but then I got a txt saying I needed to top up with EUR150.

So will unlocking go ahead or not? I will PM you my details. Appreciate any help you can give me

so i just got my iphone unlocked (thank you daryll) and took it to a vodafone store to change over from O2, the girl in the vodafone shop told me that if i ever were to update my iphone ie; with the new 4.0.1 update, the phone will automatically get reset to O2 again

i have a feeling this isnt true and maybe she was mistaken, anyway i went ahead with the change over and am now with vodafone, i just wanna know if this is true or not or if anyone else heard this?

sorry if its been brought up before i tried looking through the forum but couldnt find anything on it

    cheers

I've recently requested my iPhone 3G to be unlocked at my local O2 store, so I could switch over to the 3 network. To cut a long story short 3 set up my new SIM and cancelled my O2 account too quickly and now I'm unable to receive the unlock code on my O2 SIM. The guy in the O2 store said to just go ahead and restore the phone on iTunes and then insert the 3 SIM and do a restore from back-up. I've done that but the phone says my 3 SIM is not compatible.

Is my phone still locked? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

sync with the new sim installed, if that doesnt work do a restore and a message will come up to say its unlocked
