Probably some old info for some of ye but it I heard the digger is back up and running. Max. sentence two years I think.

Where would you rather do time in the Digger or a civie prison. If you get the two years they will probably give you your ticket aswell.

    Hi there,
It's the Military prison in the Curragh, for DF personnel.Spike island used also be a "Digger". Usually,an inmate got two weeks of whitewashing rocks, painting, sweeping the square, bulling boots, cleaning in the dining halls, etc. This was usually for AWOL or fighting.Serious crime got you a stint before a Judge and the real possibility of a dishonourable discharge.
    regards

I think in the Digger you can be made do mandatory manual labour as opposed to a regular prison.
I wonder do the prisoners have a 'Curragh shuffle march' like Charlie Sheen in the army prison film Cadence.:o
I can see them now marching and shuffling down to the plains to whitewash the air strip rocks all along the edge of the landing strip.
I did it in 1993 in the usual pissing rain and as you got three rocks forward the first would would be stripped bear again. That went on for hours with an N.C.O. standing beside me with his mandatory little tash twitching in the hail. That was the last day I spent ever in the Curragh.:D Some good memories though running from Hare Park up to Kent Bks I think it was, for swill at 1230 hrs. They may aswell have pulled a steel trough in front of us like a proper pig race.

Correct, two years maximum sentence in the Curragh.....but if you get 4 years, the other 2 are in a civvie prison.

I'd take regular prison, simply because there is a Much higher chance of Temporary Release. TR in Irish Prisons is basically saying, OK, you've been here a few months, be good, sign on and report here on this date for an extension.

I doubt it's like that in the "digger", but TBH I don't know much about it.

If I was innocent, civilian, if guilty, maybe the digger.
