Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How many could you sink, before being torpedoed below the waterline! :pac:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/8517607.stm

A controversial Scottish brewery has said it has reclaimed the title of the world's strongest beer from German rivals - with Sink the Bismarck at 41%. BrewDog, of Fraserburgh, made headlines last year when it unveiled a 32% beer called Tactical Nuclear Penguin.
However, Schorschbrau released the 40% strength Schorschbock.
BrewDog said its newly released 41%, Sink the Bismarck, would cost £40 for a 330ml bottle and would only be sold online.

I think they're waiting to introduce their commercial version, which is 25%, it's going to be called "Bombing Dresden".

It's not really beer is it ?

Either they've fortified it with spirits or they have distilled off the water - sounds closer to whisky then a drink produced by yeast fermentation.

In Ireland it wouldn't be: everything over 28% ABV is a spirit, regardless of how it's made.
they have distilled off the water
    This one.

Suppose technically if it's made with malted barley, water yeast and hops, it's a beer, whether or not they distill it. Whiskey is distilled from unhopped barley liquor, so it's different

For anyone interested, this is just in at DrinkStore and Deveney's Dundrum. You won't get much change from €80 though.

I remember when the lovely man from world beers was talking me through the brewdog range, you have to dink Tactical like its a whiskey at 60 euro a bottle you could get a 12 yo mcallan and 20 smokes!!

just remembered now but wasnt the end of history from brewdog 55% I know its discontinued but surely theres some bottles out there

Tempting to get one, purely as a collector's item.

However, €80, and I can't imagine that it tastes in any way nice as a spirit. Plus, in making it look like a beer they have omitted to have a resealable cap which is essential with spirits (except those that are intended for necking behind bike sheds).

At €80 it's 700ml equivalent is €169, which would buy you one hell of a whiskey e.g. Bushmills 21 y.o.

They did say they were shipping with reseal cap shortly after they launched it. Dunno if they still are, though as I've never seen it in real life. Mad not to.

How would that work with a beer, would it not loose fizziness after a while once opened regardless?

    Where would the gas go?

Is it even fizzy? Sounds truly disgusting.
