Automatic Vans - in Ireland; do they exist?

Hi guys/gals, new to forum and ye guys here seem to know your Ferraris from your Fiats!

I am looking to buy a box type van in the coming months something not too big and not too small, however my single caveat is that it must be Automatic, I have driven automatics all my life in different continents and will be damned if I change to Manual now, plus the whole insurance loading of becoming a learner driver would not make the whole venture worth it, plus I'm not a good manual driver to begin with:o

I want to get something with Commercial tax and good sized engine 2.5l>, Something like a ford transit is not what I'd have in mind, something more like the Mercedes Benz Vito or Volkswagen Transporter would be handy but they only seem to come equipped with Automatic in their Taxi variants.

Ideally it should be Diesel and RWD and my price range is flexible but I will buy used I think. Anyone wonder is there any in Ireland or will I have to go stateside and deal with the associated import taxes and having to putup with a LHD?

I wonder has this question ever been asked here before? Anyway thanks for the input, appreciate it!

America is where you'd find most of the auto vans, although most of them have huge V8 or V10 petrol engines, although their is a few with diesels.

Very rare here but I did spot one on donedeal for €3200, its a 2003 diesel Mercedes Vito auto silve panel van, 120k 1 owner.

Auto commercial vans are pretty rare in Ireland, most are usually mini-bus derivitives for ferrying people around.

Thanks for the speedy reply guys, I was sure that both the Transporter & Mercedes Vito were only available in Automatic as Taxi people carriers!

I sold a vw transporter auto panel van in 07. Only come with the 2.5 174bhp iirc. they're out there alright, rare as hens teeth though.
UK mught be your best bet for any sort of choice.

I know you can order a DSG Transporter or Caddy. Im sure you can order a Vito too.

I have an automatic ford transit, its on uk plates(p) 2.5td, four speed autobox. High roof long wheel base but have to say Its my first automatic van and they are rare.

I was thinkign abotu this a few times. I really cant understand why more vans arent auto.

The silly "I like to feel in control when I drive/ it's more fun in a manual" stuff cant even be used. The vast majority of vans are used for trudging to and from work.

You would think the likes of couriers especially would be all over auto vans.
