Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

I've purchased a ScreenPlay Director 1TB edition, (http://go.iomega.com/en/products/multimedia-drive/screenplay/screenplay-director/?partner=4725) & despite other reviews am happy with how it operates - with one exception...

The device name is displayed as "SCREENPLAY-3E38". Does anyone know of a way to change the device name to something more user friendly e.g. Movies or Music? I have tried to telnet to the device - but the connection is always refused. I have also connected via usb to my PC, but cannot find anyway to change it there either

    Any suggestions, much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    SH

So, after doing some more research, it appears that Telnet may be disabled by default & to enable it I should follow instructions similiar to those posted here - http://screenplayprohd.wikia.com/wiki/Enable_telnet. I know these are different animals - but I am hoping the same applies. I've hooked my Screenplay via USB to the PC & I have several partitions on it, as outlined. I've used this http://www.fs-driver.org/ & this http://www.chrysocome.net/explore2fs but the drives appear not to contain any system files - I am assuming that I should see some Samba folders? (I know next to nothing about Linux).

If anyone could advise as to if I'm on the right track. provide any assistance - I'd appreciate it!

    Many thanks,

    Hi,

I tried Knoppix & was able to acccess samba.conf to amend the device name.

I don't think I could see all the files though as I came across one file (can't remember the name) which contained a path reference to another location which I could not see in the folder structure, so I'm sure there may be more options I could "play around with" - I'd like to be able to make the usb drives plugged into the device accessible via my PC - but that is another topic, on another day - My device name issue has been resolved.

Hope this may help someone else.

    SH

    Hi,
I bought the same SPD 1Tb and wanted to change the hostname. After googgling through many pages that talk about Screenplay Pro, I arrived at your thread that talked about Screenplay Director.

I tried to access the os partition with Ubuntu and Knoppix but unable to. I can see 2 partitions other than where the data is stored but unable to access them. How did you access the samba.conf ?
    Regards,
    Sagay
