Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Previous owner's name came up on NCT sheet

I bought a used car last year and had it NCT'd a few days ago. It passed but the previous owner's name and address came up on the white sheet with the results.

How could this have happened? I would have thought that the NCT got its information directly from the Dept of Transport's database, where I am recorded as the registered owner.

Do I need to do anything?

ring your local tax office and ask them. They should be able to tell you straight out. If there's no joy from that, ring the dept of environment in shannon. They should be able to help

It doesn't matter in the slightest :)
I wouldn't be bothered doing anything about it, how did you book the NCT ?

Do you have the log book - vehicle registration cert - in your name?

Yeah, the reg cert is in my name as was the tax renewal.

I might ring my local tax office and see what happens.

probably just an nct database error, did the tester say anything about the mismatching names?

Yes, he noticed and asked to see my reg cert.

I just did my NCT and when I went to book it online all the previous owners details came up after I put in the cars details, I was able to change them myself there and then, so I'm guessing the last person to NCT that car stays on their database until you change it yourself, but I wouldn't worry about it.

That should never happen, the details are supposed to be changed when the car is registered to the new owner. I would have privacy concerns if I sold my car to a dealer and the new owner could see my details instead of his own.

Really ? The new owner is hardly going to be remotely interested in you or your details :) Realistically if you have privacy concerns over something like that the amount of stuff folks can find out about you with only a little digging must bother the sh1te out of you.

Does it matter who tests the car? I have dropped cars to NCT that are not mine. Even one registered to women.
