    Paddy's Day
Met at 08:00 with Rottenhat, Andreas and Frank with plans to do most of the Slievemaan 200k route but making up the 200k or so from Town so leaving out the loop around Tinahely. We went down the Coast Road (Town, Dun Laoghaire, Bray, Greystones, Delgany) over to Ashford and on through Devil's Glen to Laragh with a stop for tea. Frank left us after this and went up over Sally Gap. We went on over Wicklow Gap, heading for Hollywood, Dunlavin, heading toward Slievemaan, Shay Elliott etc. Unfortunately, the niggle in my back (from ongoing disc problem) became a bigger deal and despite the heat patch and now painkillers, it was actually getting worse. When we got back to the N81 after Dunlavin, I had to bale and took the 'route of shame' and headed back up the N81, leaving Rottenhat and Andreas to continue on the route. For what it's worth, the 'Route of Shame' was not unpleasant, as it was fairly flat and I had the wind at my back ('it's an ill-wind' and all that). Really enjoyed the bit into Tallaght at speed but got caught by ALL the lights - feck. I got home ok and the bath made the back feel better but I'll have to get it checked. Not sure if it is linked but I had the bike re-sized during the week....
Hope the lads managed alright, very sorry to have baled but was the right thing to do - probably. Was very nice up to that with a bit of craic and chat on the route. Also met up for a bit with ROK_ON going well for Wicklow Gap, nice to see again.

    My Stats: Distance: 175.88k (it's nearly 200, right?), Ave: 24km/h, Max: 67km/h, Cycle time: 7:24:29, Elapsed: 9:00:00
