    I know sorry for that.

Seriously, sorry if anyone got offended.

He should be punished and held accountable for everything illegal he did, theres no doubt they have something on him, but agree they shouldnt make a scapegoat out of him.

It is also worth thinking about the timing of his arrest is politically motivated, i think it was mentioned on radio that Anglo's losses were about to be published. This arrest would deflect a bit of attention from that.

(also, on a similar note, if anybody would like to do a survey on their dealings with their bank, theres a link in my sig, it would help me with my college dissertation, thanks!)

I think the main stumbling block here will be to get a solid conviction to make an example of him. You can be sure he will have a good barrister to get him off the charges. I think if he does go down he will take half the Galway tent with him.

He's been arrested, not charged, tried or convicted.

    A little perspective.

Way too late.....horse bolted well over ayear ago.

Indeed I am sure Seanie Fitz already shredded all hard copy files and got rid of any documentary evidence which may or may not be used against him at his home and in Anglo Irish offices in the city..

Why are the authorities in this country so slowwwww to act in this.

Detectives only searching his home now......what a joke...

This is all a Public relations excercise for the public....no teeth

Maybe we should have a model based on Poland's CBA.

they should look for signs of bonfire, like someone in the past did

Thank god.... Its only a matter of time on the rest... than again with the spread of brown envelopes in this country perhaps the upper echelons might not want to see him convicted.

I wonder will he do a deal and start talking.
That could get very interesting later if he does!
I'd say there's a few worried people tonight in Dublin and elsewhere.

a token casualty is better than no token casualty

diarmuid mcmurrogh invited in the normans for his own gain

norman named fitzpatrick invited in runaway money addiction

which will impovrish schools and hospitals for generations

him and about four others would be a welcome decoration to our prison service

The man gets the blame for everything.

Everyone who participated in the property craze holds some responsibility for the mess the banks are in.

Not everyone committed fraud thou. He did. Also I didn't particiapate in the craze - I still think he and other should be prosecuted. The others is important thou - I would be angry if they scapegoated one or two people.

What does cook the books mean. I never came across that term. Coming from a former accountant and a current analyst & money manager. Generalisations arent sufficient evidence to send someone to jail. We need to take a step back here folks. Lets not get to brash.

    Was that on the radio?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,134 ✭✭✭Lux23

I see that its on RTE, that is so annoying.

It doesn't say whether he was charged or not. Can't they release him having charged him? Forgive my ignorance if not.

  • Registered Users Posts: 185 ✭✭dixierip

Cases like this tend to be complicated. Its no surprise that the Gardaí want the DPP to look at it before any charges are preferred.
