My sister is going to Pria Da Rocha in Portugal. Always a minefield for restaurants in holiday areas. Has anyone been there and eaten there. Any nice places to eat......:)

The main strip of PDR is v much touristy prices with mostly fast food. Have been there a few times (3 i think-mostly dragged along on girly holidays!) There's a nice fish restaurant just on the corner after you walk up the hill from Club PDR and past the irish bar (when u first get onto the strip). But she should definitely walk down to the Marina down the end (is it Portimao?) not sure of the name but just follow the seafront down the way (to the left as u are facing the sea) and there's a really nice selection of restaurants down there, fish and pizza/pasta places

Also how old is your sister? Make sure she knows that during high season its very much a touristy place, there's no real Portugese vibe there unless u go out further, or rent a car. It was grand for twenty somethings and clubs stay open all night till 6 or 7 in the morning. The beach was really nice though a bit of a walk to get to (if you're staying in Club PDR where most ppl stay) Also be aware there's no air conditioning in some places! I found it fine cos we weren't expecting much, we had a great time but now that I'm a bit older I prob wouldn't head back there
(Lanzarote has a name for being touristy and Club 18-30 but has a much more relaxed vibe and is v family friendly too, the old town is lovely and you get a proper idea of Spanish life/culture)
I hope I'm not putting u off I just wanted to let you know what it was like. If your sister is going outside of peak season or if she's not 30+ with kids then she'll have a ball :D Saying that, there were families with kids there but If I had kids I wouldn't bring them there tbh

Cheers for that. She is going next week. Mind you she is married, sounds fine though.

    Hello!

There are some great places to eat there

    1) Atlantis, its a nice posh restaurant but is just the same prices as here. Would recommend the Flambe Strawberries for dessert

    2) Club Squash- this is a part of the squash hotel and also very very nice

    3) A nice Pizza place is just down past the Algarve Casino hotel, Dolce Vitae

there really is a lot to choose from, you dont necessarily have to live on burgers and chips, i certainly ate really well anytime I have been
