Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    relief.

    he looks pretty knackered.

let's call a spade a spade, this has been shocking since the second goal.

    but fair play, job done.

4 goals in 4 days and 17 for the season. What preparation for the United game. Torres will probably get 20+ goals this season which is especially impressive considering his injuries.

Said it before and will say it again now. A world class player at one end to keep the goals out, and a world class player at the sharp end to knock them in.

    Thank you Nando.

Legend, we'd be fcuked without you.

    Now, roll on Sunday.

Assuming Torres plays the full 90 tonight and doesn't score again, his minutes per goal stat is 2072 mins played (just over 23 full games) 16 goals scored => one goal every 129 mins so far this season

Assuming a full 90 tonight and no more goals, he has scored 66 goals in 111 appearances for Liverpool.

He has played 8424 mins for Liverpool (the equivalent of just over 93 and a half games). He has scored an average of a goal every 127 mins on the pitch.

Knew I was tempting fate with this while Nando was still on the pitch.:D:D:D

    Lucas man of the match!!

    no.

    first half, quality.

second half he did a disappearing act.

Masch, Kuyt or even Carra for me.

Nice win, performance was more important and building on the passing form and win on Monday night. Saw it in parts and could easily have had a few more. Happy enough. Left it a bit late for the 3rd. Lucas MOTM again for me.

I'd prefer Fulham to be honest. That said Bobby Zamora is to be feared at any time.

There are no easy games in it, but Belgian teams aren't great, and we owe them a good kicking after making us sweat last season imo.

i'd say Torres goals per minutes is frightening this season.

Was the best in the league a few weeks ago IIRC.

They were posted on another forum when I googled goals/min ratio.

    Can't find anything else concrete.

I suspect they might be league only stats

They are from the Premier League Fantasy Football game.

Not if Rooney stays in form

He has been phenomenal the last few weeks especially and those stats are evidence of that

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,312 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

He certainly has but even with his injuries and stuttering team-mates Torres is up there with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Thats actually a higher quality last 8 than you would expect.
Out of whats there, I'd like Benfica or Liege. Want to avoid Fulham, as I 'd love to see them keep going. They were class tonight, and i rate Roy Hodgson so highly, that man have turned that club around big time.
If possible a Liverpool/Fulham final would be great!!!

    Is the draw on tomorrow???

Look at this way. Rooney has been playing virtually non stop all season and is at optimum fitness. Torres has been in and out of the team all season and hasn't really reached match fitness for a prolonged period..

Both players have an extremely similar goal per minute ratio.

I am confident that Torres will finish the season with a better goal per minutes ratio if he plays for the rest of the season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

if you look at Rooneys last 10 games though he has a much better GPM average

i dont imagine he can keep that up however, but he is hitting form at the right time

if you had to pick who the better finisher was pre season you would say Torres, so i would expect you would assume he would have a better GPM ratio anyway?

    i would anyway

if you look at Torres last two games he has a much higher goals per minute ratio ;) (good to see the pre-match willy waving in full flow)

Yeah, Torres also has better lovely hair ratio than Rooney over the last 2 games.

Rooney scores once every 95 mins this year
Torres scores once every 98 mins this year

Considering torres has spent so much of his time on the pitch getting his fitness back after injury and Rooney is having the season of his life Torres's stats are very impressive

Torres is beast, don't think many can deny he's one of the best forwards in the world.
