Two decent chances in similar positions for Torres, miscontrolled one of them and bad bounce off pitch for other. Looked a bit rusty with his touch still. Benny probably should have put it away afterward anyway.

Was impressed at how well Rooney holds the ball up when playing up front on his own, Utd kept just knocking it up to him and he held on to it long enough for midfield support. Works well when playing a conservative line up. Reminded me a little of Hughes in the way he did it.

First half, Liverpool were better without doubt. I think we were slightly lucky to get a penalty. We were nervous, making mistakes.

Then Ferguson must have delievered a heck of a half time speech. We were solid, hungry in the second half. Thoroughly deserved the win. Fletcher kept Liverpool quiet. Ferguson got the tactical upper hand on this occasion.
