    Hey Guys,

So I live in the sticks and cant get proper BB.. I use O2 to play BF2 and MW2 and tbh .. its not too bad. I get pings of 100 - 150 and it is well playable (most of the time)

So BFBC2 arrives on the scene ... I get pings of 78 to the TIG server .. which goes up to 150ish ..again..playable.

But for some unknown reason ... I join the TIG server or any other server .. get into game .. plays perfect and 3mins later I get kicked.

Exactly the same time .. 3mins in after login. I have two other frinds using O2 and they are seeing the exact same problem.
One of them (Bluedrax) tested it with a vodfone dongle and even though the pings are worse .. he doesnt get disconnected.

    Any thoughts?

I mailed EA and they came back blaming the bad connection.. but infairness it works fine for BF2 , MW2 and a worse Vodfone connection has no problems.

    thanks in advance

    Daz

Might not be the connection at fault. If it's a new install, run pbsetup.exe and make sure your PunkBuster is set correctly and updated.

I am not sure if the latency is the problem. But I have BT broadband, and I swear the amount of times I get kicked on the [TiG] server compared to other servers is amazing. I dont know why but I can play all night on other servers without a hitch and I could get kicked 3 times on the [TiG] server a night......hmmmmmm

Can I post nothing without ye finding me.:-)

i've manually updated Punkbuster using the pb.exe directly fro
there website. Also tried other servers and still the same, disconnects after 3mins

I'm using O2 and getting the exact same disconnect problem (on PS3). I also have BF1943 for over a year and never had any problems with it until BC2 came out, now I get the same disconnect problem as BC2. The beta worked fine for me for the few months I was using it. MAG,MW2 work fine for me too.

    Hi,

Im using o2 Broadband and I am having the same problem. I get disconnected every 4 minutes of playing multiplayer. Modern Warfare 2 worked grand most of the game, and so did the rest of my games.

Im using the Globesurfer III router. Any ideas from o2 ? Or is it just BFBC2 ? I know they were having problems with the online store

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,134 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

theres a packet loss kick in bc2 it appears. emailed my server host and a number of other players with the same issue as yours keeps cropping up apparently

So its a problem with the game ..... any ideas if Battlefield Bad Company 2 are going to fix it? Thanks

    Thanks Cherryghost

I bet my name is cropping up aswell.

    Did EA change something?
Because I can now play BFBC2 for more then 2 minutes without getting a server disconnected error message!!!

Or was it me messing around with the O2 3G broadband settings?

  • Registered Users Posts: 799 ✭✭✭MR DAZ

How long before you get disconnected?

  • Registered Users Posts: 207 ✭✭BlueDrax

    I didn't get disconnected!

    The round's ended as normal.

No crashes to desktop, a little bit of lag now and again but no "server disconnected" error messages!!!

I even found some dog tags, instead of losing mine....

Are you talking about the PS3 settings ?

I just tried the game this morning, still the same error.

"Connection to the game has been lost. Please check your network connection and try again"

Its pretty regular when it happens. Must be EA.

Changing the APN on the O2 Moblile Partner settings to internet (instead of open.internet) worked for me too, this was for PS3

  • Registered Users Posts: 344 ✭✭BeatFreak

Finally retrieved my boards account, wanted to post here ages ago. I'm also in the unfortunate position where O2 3g is the best internet connection available to me during the week.

I managed to get a unbranded or unlocked version of the o2 connection software and changed the APN to just internet as suggested and it worked! Thanks for the heads up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 66 ✭✭Welshman666

    guys I'm having same problem..

all games work fine etc etc

so i tried changing the APN to internet, but when i try to connect i get 'Error 628: The connection was terminated by the remote computer before it could be completed."

if anyone knows anything around that it would be appreciated

    Welshman :)

what is the unbranded or unlocked version of the o2 connection ?

I have put my PS3 in a DMZ and set my Firewall to lowest security with no luck. Also I have tried both settings from "internet" to "open.internet" and both dont make any difference.

  • Registered Users Posts: 344 ✭✭BeatFreak

Unlocked is probably the wrong word, I wasn't able to change the APN with the default software that came with my E1752. Windows gave me a prompt at some stage to update the driver for my dongle which when I installed the drivers it also installed an additional unbranded connection manager called Mobile Partner which allowed me to create a new profile and use the APN internet rather than open.internet.

So now if I want to play BF I run the Mobile Partner software and connect and otherwise I use the default O2 software.

Worth noting that yesterday out of the blue my dongle stopped working on both connection managers and I ended up with 3 different instances of my E1752 showing up in the device manager. Took a lot of messing and uninstalling software and drivers to get it back to normal.

well i got Mobile Partner..changed the APN to just "internet" with that and i still get error 628

im wondering if im doing something wrong here and missing a step maybe?

    Thanks for help!

Error 628 isn't related to this problem, I'd say you have incorrect setting somewhere.

    Settings should be;

    APN - Static - internet

    Authentication - Access number *99#

Actually I thought there was more to it but that seems to be it. Do you have these settings?

attached is my internet settings for my router. Can anyone take a look and help ? i get disconnected every 4 minutes of online play with BFBC2

bit of a bump i know but im in the same boat. did u ever get it sorted?
same thing...3 min in and kicked out. tried all sorts of stuff and no joy. i usually get pings of 80 or less in css and cod4. play gta4 and some others with no problems. cant get dsl as i am also in the sticks:-)

    Just an update on this..

I had this sorted for 6months or so and in the last two weeks something changed in O2 and I was back to getting kicked every 3mins

Tried again last night ..and bingo back online no more disconnects.

If this is happening you need to be using the internet apn to sustain a connection.
