Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's a pretty solid final eight for such a maligned competition. Last night was just pure entertainment, bunch of great, great games.

From a Liverpool perspective, Standard Liege please. Anyone else, give us the home leg last.

Hope Fulham get a good draw, i've been following them in Europa and they've been fantastic. Really hope they do well.

Yep, I hope Fulham get Liege.

And Liverpool get Valencia, and play at home first.

    Get on with it!

Would like Liverpool to get Fulham, I don't rate them as highly as some people on here do. I know they beat them at the cottage earlier in the season but there's tougher opponents than Fulham in the draw.

Can't see Liverpool beating either Spanish team tbh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,516 ✭✭✭Hoki

Liverpool have to do it the hard way to make the final , possible reunions with Athletico for Torres & Maxi ( Cup Tied)

Should be an easy enough final I suppose, seeing as Liverpool have to play the best teams on the way!

I dunno, Benfica will be tough opponents. For reference, check out what they did to Everton earlier in the season + their display away at the Velodromme last night. Nasty place to play also, rabid crowd.

Then the semi draw will be extremely tough either way.

The bonus is bringing both ties back to Anfield (assuming we get to the Semis that is).

Could have been worse, could have been better.

Benfica will be tricky enough........as will the winners of Valencia Athletico should we make it to the semi's

    Interesting few games lie ahead

Only thing is 2nd leg at Anfield.
Benfica would have aspirations of winning the comp., not easy tie at all.

Bad draw for Liverpool, Benfica are the best team in it. They destroyed Everton and have lots of tricky players who will expose liverpools defence, especially insua and carragher.

    Delighted with that draw.

Tbh, I don't think there's much between any of the teams left and anyone can beat any of the teams on their day.

The 2nd leg at Anfield is key though and will be key also should we make the semis.

    That's a little harsh isn't it? ;)

Very very strong final 8 to be honest. I'd love to see Atletico play Liverpool in the final, and for Aguero to nutmeg Torres on his game winning goal scoring run. :p

They can't meet in the final.

They can meet in the semis however.

    My bad!

The positive for Liverpool is that we get the second leg at home for the quarter and the semi (if we get through!).

Benfica will be a tough nut to crack though. They've only lost one league game all season and currently sit on top of the league.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

    G'wan Fulham!
A not the worst, not the best type of draw for them. Lot of handy teams in it at this stage. Tough draw for Liverpool especially when you consider their semi-final, if they get there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,599 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

Benfica are a strong team, one of the ones I would have wanted to avoid. Can't see Liverpool making the final, whether they lose out to Benfica or one of the Spanish sides.

I dont think so tbh if they can draw in Portugal and get the win at the Kop they will be lucky

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

Tough enough draw for the English teams, but then again there are no real weak teams in there. All are well capable of beating the rest in it on their day.

All ties should be well worth watching imo.

There's no such thing as an easy game for Liverpool this season ;)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I thought such a rubbish competition would only attract interest from Liverpool and Fulham fans. Sure are a lot of people eager to get their opinion in on the likelihood of a Liverpool exit this next round. :D
