Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm completely new to whole insure thing and a bit lost so any help appreciated . . .

Can you be the main driver on more than 1 car?

Folks have 1 car each, both main on one and named on the other. Can I get a third car into the loop and saw have my mam main on two cars? Or is it simple 1 car 1 main?

I may have confused even myself there :)

Both parents have the own cars and are each insured on each others? You Mother or Father can take another policy out but it probably will cost the same if not more than taken you own poilcy out as they will not be able to use their no claims disocunt on 2 policies.

as above, yes your mam or dad can open another policy, effectively their second policy but they cant use their NCB as they are using it on their main car so could be still pricey.

better off stumping up for the first year on your own, it will stand to you in the future.
what age are you, car have you got etc etc

You can be the main driver on as many cars as you want but you need a seperate insurance policy for each one, so your mother can only use her NCB from her current policy on one car and will have to start a new one for another car

28, only have provisional a year and never been insured (instructors car)
Looking to buy something like a 1.4 Golf with a few years on it ~10

Folks sometimes swap cars as my mams car is new, dads is a few years old, so for long journeys etc he takes her car and she takes his.

Parents both 50, 10+ years driving each never claimed/points/full NCB

Its not worth going down the named driver route anymore if you are going to be the main driver as you are not really insured in that case & the insurers ARE digging their heels in on this nowadays.
