set up home security via pc

ok after a bit of research on the net im looking to setup a security camera at the house which will record to a hdd in my pc while im out.

have any of you guys ever done this before and how easy is it to setup.do i need to wire both to the pc or can it be done wirelessly.
just looking for some advise before i start buying stuff and messin up:o

i have done a few all wired, using x-vision, geovision and even a x-gaurd usb device,

all work on bnc connection so very easy to wire, even tough wireless is good, i think because it cheap use cable and it solid as well

all above work on motion, so if a motion is detected it records to hard drive,

things needed, cameras, pc card and then software, they are some freeware solutions now for this
i have used x-vision a lot

if you are buying seperates you may look at that route

camera are usally powered off 12v so no prob to wire up

Agreed, as IMO you'll be kicking yourself if the screen goes fuzzy due to wireless interference just before sh|t hits the fan.
