Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Arsenal 1 up through Denilson

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

How is Sol still on the pitch?

2 footed lunge on the edge of our box. He got the ball but if he didn't it was a definite red.

Then about a minute later he clears one of their players out of it in their box with a similair tackle.

    Great save Almunia.

Campbell won't make it through this game imo.

Nasri/Shava off and Silvestre on and go 4-4-2.

    Or drop Song into defence?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,209 ✭✭✭Redzer7

    Never a red card.

That's a dreadful decision. Cannot believe that.

Very harsh on Vermaelen to get sent off there.

Nice to see Almunia make a penalty save.

    Ridiculous red, unbelievably harsh.

Referee made an absolute balls of that decision. It was never a red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Campbell with a two footer although he got the ball, then got booked he looks angry at something.

Song has been world class for Arsenal.

That was a stupid red imo.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

Verm had his hand on the back, it was a dive imo, but it was stupid from Verm, any time you raise your hands to the other players it's liable to be given as a foul. I don't think there's much of an argument there tbh.

I just realised that means you'll have to start with a center back pairing of sol and silvestre for the next few games:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

It was a red card in the context of the rules.

Did he deny a goalscoring opportunity? Yes.

    Was he last man? Yes.

    Red card then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

It was a harsh red yeah, but Verm should know better than to have his hand on his back.

By the letter of the law it was red.

    3 match ban for Vermaelen
Out for Birmingham away, Wolves home and Spuds away.
Is that the end of title charge with no Gallas and no Vermaelen??
    Un fu€kin real.

Even worse decision is that Sol Campbell is still on the pitch. But I don't think Wenger will have seen that.

straight red is 3 match ban afaik

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Just on the game itself we've been very poor.

Plenty of pretty stuff in the middle of the pitch and the corners but absolutely no incisiveness in the final third. Same old story really and we'll be made pay for it now I'd imagine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,692 ✭✭✭✭OPENROAD

Is it not three if violent conduct otherwise just one?

Nah I think a professional foul is a one match ban. If it was violent conduct or dangerous play it would be three games.

I see what you did there, you thought you'd be "cool" and use that boring old cliché that everyone's heard a million times.

Out of interest, when was the last time Zola publicly criticised one of his players???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

1 game ban for professional foul.

There is no last man rule. And the west ham player went down way too easy.

Eh what has that got to do with anything exactly? What a stupid comment. When was the last time Zola publically criticised other teams/players for deliberately trying to injure his players?
Wenger defended Campbell last week when he injured Zayatte and now he's had two shocking tackles, one which got the ball and one that was nowhere near the ball and somehow he's only on a yellow.
Do you not agree Campbell should be off?

Of course he did. The centre half had just put hands on his back stupidly in and around the area.

It was a foul that came about because Vermaelen let the ball bounce instead of getting a head on it.

So in your opinion, should Campbell have been sent off?
