Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Question on using external battery pack with 580ex speedlite

Can anyone advise me as to whether I can use an external battery pack with a Canon 580ex without having to put batteries in the battery compartment of the 580ex.
One of the battery contact points in the body of my speedlite has been corroded ( due to a leaking battery which was not spotted by me when purchasing s/h ) and sometimes this leads to failure in making the power circuit.
So I'm wondering if the purchase of an external battery pack might solve my problems.
I'm also looking at attempting some form of repair and have posted a wanted advert on Adverts.ie looking for a broken / beyond repair 580 ex body.........

Thanks in advance for all help.

You still need batteries in the flash unit, one of the custom functions can use only the battery pack for flash but still needs batteries to run the electronics
