Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

First Tattoo questions

    Hey all.

Booked with Wildcat to get my first tat on 8th April. Getting a design that I've wanted the past seven years, since I was 16. Always wanted this one design. Its tribal in style.

Anyways, I'm just dead nervous about it, mainly the design aspect. The artist who's doing is is awesome, his online portfolio impressed me more than anyone elses for what I want, and my mate got inked very recently and I sat through it and was impressed beyond belief.

Thing is, I've asked for my design in a stone carved effect and am worried it won't be what I want, or that something will go wrong. Even that I'll feel slightly pressured on the day to say yes to the design whether I like it or not. Just nerves really.

One thing is, the design I have isn't perfectly symmetrical, and I asked the artist about making it symmetrical. He said that for upper arm tats, its better its not 100% even. But I know it'll bother me if it looks lop-sided.

    Any advice?

1st you should never feel pressured into saying yes to something you don't want tattoo'd, it's on your body so walk away rather than feel pressured into saying yes.

2nd If you've seen his work and his reputation is very good then get him to do 2-3 different designs and then you choose which one you want.

    Cheers.

On the day, is it always ok to ask the artist to re-jig the design if its not exactly what I want?

Of course, you'll be wearing it for the rest of your life, you had better make sure its exactly what you want.

Perfectly acceptable to ask them to rehash it on the day but a couple of things to remember, He's a professional, trust them when they say what'd work on your skin, yer skin is not paper, he's not putting it on with a pencil so in this front his opinion should carry alot of weight.

If you want a ton of changes don't be surprised if he asks to reschedule the appointment, Real life tattooing isn't edited like miami ink!

Ah it wouldn't be radical, its a tribal it stone carved effect so there's only so much leeway really!

I trust the guy and his work completely so his opinion will be very important to me. I guess on any level getting inked needs a certain level of trust in the artist.

I'm considering getting one done very soon too - my first one.

I haven't done a huge amount of research, but I was planning to have a chat with an artist about potential designs etc.

I was considering going to that tattoo place in Rathmines, South Ink Tattoo.

Does anyone have any opinions on this place or the pros that work there?
