    Name: Cat
    Age: 25 (going on 19!)
    Location: Dublin

    Interests:
Rock & metal music, gigs, cinema, night clubs (but hate the slutty/trendy/ mad-fer-it/ fall around drunk types that can be found there!), belly dancing, LOVE boxing, yoga, make up, getting new piercings, I used to do youth drama so I'm always up for making a fool of myself and having a laugh. Love video games too, especially Guitar Hero :D I'm really sappy and secretly love Twilight :o My brain is mush thanks to trashy TV, I only read Harry Potter and The Mortal Instruments books. Usually be found in the Ranting & Raving forum (they're my soul mates!) Hate football and rugby.

Story: Just kind of drifted apart from my secondary school friends, a lot of my so called friends were flakes & back stabbers. I'm a primary school teacher, the girls in my school are really cool & fun but a bit older & settled down... Mostly hang out with my best friend & I live with my boyfriend.

    This is a great thread!

I'm 28, based in Dublin. Not originally from Dublin so my friends are kinda scattered around the country. I like the usual stuff (except shopping - I'm a bit of a tomboy like that!)- reading, cinema, crap TV, eating out.

Can't make the meet up tomorrow cos I'll be working :(

Can we please keep the chat out of this - it's a great idea for a thread, lets not lose the information about everyone in a sea of off-topicness.

Deadly thread. I must admit I am in the same situation. I live in the middle of nowhere ( carbury :( ) and work in Blanch so commuting isn't a problem for me but because most of my friends are in college and I just got a job straight after it seems I have drifted apart from my friends.

Like I see my friends but its tough to keep in touch when I'm working and they have thesis.

I would really like the idea of meeting new people. so who am I?

Other stuff: Like I said started in a job just before graduating last year and was in a 40 hr a week course in college so I think at this stage I need some sort of a life

Hi all, firstly great idea by Misticles! Secondly I am a guy so I don't think you want to know what my stats / interests are seeing as this is TLL....

However, for anyone living in and around Cork (or just visiting) who is looking for friends I would like to point you towards the Cork forum:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=478

I organise meetups every single month (this March we had 3 of them!! and each time we had around 12 people!!)....I set up a new thread each month to discuss that months events!

So....please feel free to look at that. This months thread is here (soon to be replaced by an April one):

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055840763

and we have a general chat thread here:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055498427

So far we have organised some of the following - drinks nights, bowling, pool competitions, photo walks, dinner, cinema nights etc....

So apologies if this post is not appropriate however I just want anyone from Cork or near there to realise that A LOT of stuff is going on....and we usually have a ratio of 55% guys, 45% girls.

Feel free to PM me if you want to know more....or just post in the Cork forum!! Oh and Misticles has met me in real life so she can tell you if I am nice or not lol!!

    Hi all,

My names Sarah. Just turned 24 yesterday. I used to have alot of friends in school but I don't live near them anymore so its hard to meet up with them. I'm self employed also so I don't have any workfriends either. My boyfriend was chatting to 3 Spanish girls who had just arrived in Ireland the other night in order to try and makes me some friends, so I think it's about time to start trying it myself!

I have me a day off tomorrow so would love to go along to cinema too.

    Hi guys

Just saw this thread now, it's a fantastic idea!! I would love to get involved!!

    Name: Sarah
    Age: 26
    Location: Dublin

Interests: cinema, running, driving, reading, travelling

Story: Im an extremely shy person who had very few friends when I was younger. I drifted apart from all except one, to only be seriously screwed over by the last one a number of times. We are still technically friends but I don't really bother with her much anymore. Have one great friend but over the last 3 years she has moved to other side of Dublin and has 2 children!!

PS: It doesnt bother me that she has children, I just never hear from her anymore as she's obviously very busy - maybe see eachother once a month if lucky.

I'm extremely nervous about doing this to be honest, I'm trying to talk myself out of it as I type!! But here it goes!!

Hey Sarah, we have all been there at some stage or another - its not every day you meet a bunch of strangers :) Everyone is really nice though, I had the pleasure of meeting 5 lovely ladies today :D

And as for the friends thing Im in the exact same boat as you

As Misticles said - it's so great to know I'm not the only one!! And despite what a lot of people here think, 26 is not old!!!!!!!! But it is harder to make friends at this age! For example, I'm a student teacher this year and I find that there is definitely 5 years between me and the second youngest. Hard to make friends and teachers can be quite cliquey.

Hi just have been reading through this thread. I live in south tipp and I work in waterford so maybe I could be near you... I worked in dublin until last month and i'm finding it hard to meet new people. I'm originally from here but a lot of my friends have moved away so i'm looking to meet up with new people. My interests are reading, swimming, going out but don't get to do that much now since I don't know too many people around here these days. I'm 28 and not too far off being 29!

Hi, Im Linda and think this one of the best ideas ever.

    Age: 23

    Location: Dublin

Interests: reading (will have a library when I get a house), movies, science, yoga, watching sports, and playing videogames. I also want to learn to cook, my real guilty pleasure is watching cooking programs especially "come dine with me" and watching bbc dramas like "pride and prejudice".

Story: Same situation as most peole on here just left friends behind at different stages of life. Recently moved to dublin in october but am so quiet and don't want to annoy anyone that I find it very difficult to meet people and stay in touch with people (which I want to change but am too quiet to do so, its a vicious circle)

only saw this today so a bit disappointed that didn't go to the cinema and stuff but will be definitely up for the next drinks/coffee/ movie thing.

    Hi,

You should try netball. Dublin indoor sports do it, and welcome beginners (I did it a couple of years ago before I left Dublin and it was great). We were all beginners doing it and it was surprisingly good fun. A couple went on to dublin leagues after a while doing this.

I just wish someone played netball here in Wexford!

Find this very interesting that a lot of people seem to be around the same age and in the same circumstances. Im in a predominantly male area in college which made it hard to make good friends, some lads esp in the earlier years can be a bit eww girls and stick to themselves.

I'm LOS, 22, def not a girly girl, listen to rock/metal, like art, movies esp old cheesy horrors, going to gigs, ehhhh cats, green....coffee :)

Chat and meetup organization has been moved to this thread.

Please only post in this thread to add your own details if you're looking for new friends - we don't want people getting lost within the chat!

(In hindsight I should have moved these 78 posts out of the thread instead of moving the nearly 500 chat posts out which is what I did... but... yeah... basically don't make me do that again, it was kind of like purgatory for moderators!)

    Hello!

Sarah, 21 from Dublin.... but between Blanch and Carrickmacross on Monaghan...... yes I moved to Monaghan for a man! Been hard to get to know people around there, I usually end up with the lads. Most friends have moved else where or travelling. went back to college to become an SNA and coach gymnastics. Love travelling, but since being let go (who hasnt?!) all my fantastic plans have been put on hold! Im easy going and like most things. Usually in Dub at the weekends....I love Mojitos :D

    What an excellent thread!

I was in the same boat for a different reason, i have lots of female friends 90% all attached!! :( and the remainder just cant be bothered going out!!

Anyhoo about 8 months ago I decided to join a singles networking site (OP I Sent you a PM) for the two obvious reasons, meet new peeps and maybe the man of my dreams however the latter didnt come to light   haha!

They have meets nearly every month and I have met alot of female friends through it too!! You dont have to be single either, alot use it for the social part!

Interests: My favourite activity is probably walking my dogs, I'm never happier than when I'm tramping about in the mud in my wellies watching my dogs have the time of their lives. Their enthusiasm for life is so infectious. I'm not a huge drinker, but I do have the ability to seem drunk even when I've been drinking water all night. I guess I also find other people's tippsiness infectious.:o I enjoy dancing, though I don't do it anything like enough.

This is a great idea. The lack of female friends has been bugging me a lot lately. Even more so last week when my birthday came and went and I didn't even go out for birthday drinks. :(

    Name: Helena
    Age: 26
    Location: Kilcullen, kildare.
Interests: my dog, cooking, reading, red wine, white wine, sparkling wine:P, relaxing outdoors (once the good weather comes in I spend every second weekend camping). I don't love clubbing, and I cannot dance to save my life. I'm ridiculously open about stuff. I tend to put my foot in my mouth often.

About me: When I left school I moved within days, leaving most of my friends behind. We drifted apart as you do and I started hanging out with my OH's friends. Two of their gf's I got close to but they stopped speaking to me when their relationships finished. The other girls are lovely and great drinking buddies, but not the type of relationships where you'd text during the day or even meet up with without the whole gang there.

Interests? Photography. Creative Writing. Watching funny TV programmes / films. Cooking and baking. Designing and customising clothes. Stand-up comedy. Listening to cheesy 80's music. The list goes on ... and on and on. Basically, I like stuff! :pac:

Story? I do have female (and male) friends but none of them seem to get on too well. IE. if I try to arrange something, one person won't come because another person is, which makes things quite difficult. Spending time with friends is usually on a one at a time basis, making the likes of "girlie nights out" impossible.

I'm up for chatting to new people, it's always fun, so drop me a PM or whatever :)
