I've been installing FAAC for a few years now with very little trouble. I have never used Liftmaster so can't comment.
I use a lot of the 770 24V kit and compared to others that I have used it's way ahead. Just make sure you compare like with like, from first glance the faac seems to have way more to offer than the liftmaster

thanks very much jnealon i've heard the FAAC is the job, but after doing further research on it i can't justify the extra cost when compared to liftmaster nearly 450Stg of a difference:eek:

    thanks again for your opinion

I used the FAAC too. I found them fine. The prices varied a lot though. They knocked 50% off after some negotiation. Poor drainage from the box in the ground will shorten the life of the motors as they become submerged in water. Never used the other make. Good luck!!

    No problem.
The faac kit you were looking is hydraulic which makes it more expensive compared your standard motor.
But shop around because there shouldn't be that much of a price difference

    Thanks lads

yep the FAAC S700 is the job (hydraulics) but the liftmaster sub300 will do the job for me, regarding the drainage, i think i've got is sorted, but you never know - got a jcb dug 1.5 X3ft square and filled with clean pea gravel
compressed it and now will make the timber casings to cast the concrete

Should have it delivered tomorrow, hopefully i'll get it finished while i'm off

Thanks again (i'd have used the thankyou button but i can't find it:)

I hope you are doing just well and everything goes accordingly.
I have a quick technical question for you hoping you will have the
    answer for me.
I did the 615 installation without problems including installing and
    adjusting the balancing spring.
Now just before I try the electrical connection I want to make sure I
    know what I'm doing.
According the manual, I have the intention to use either terminals 1,
2 or 3 of The 596/615 board to have the barrier opening and closing. I
perfectly understand what NO (normally open) and NC (normally close)
mean, what I need to know is how to identify the COMMON terminal for
those, either I decide to use NO or NC.
    I have just fed the board with 115V at terminals L and N (13 - 14) ,
right after Leds check went just fine specially FCA led and FCC leds.
What is it that should excite either terminals 1,2,3? Is it
electricity? coming from where? I'm asking this because I'm taking for
granted that once I'm feeding the board at terminals L and N with 115V
I have no need to supply more energy to the board. Right?
Our access control system is very very simple, it works either NO or
NC, it is just a power supply bridge, it means that the electricity
goes through it and then it will cut and resume or resume and cut the
    power transit, that is it.
Hoping I can get the help I'm looking for from you,
    Best Regards,
    Andres.

    Hi there,

How did you get on with the Liftmaster? I was thinking of going down the same route, just wanted to see what your impression of it was first
