There was 60k in the pot and its now down to about 4.5k with 2 races to come..
so I reckon its paying about £13 quid at the minute.......... you need your outsiders to get in and the favs beat for a good payout.

The only problem with placepots is if say 10 people follow you on that one the payout will be reduced if it wins?

it depends on the popularity of the placed horses. Theoretically the most popular are the favorites. If 60% of the pool have just the favorite in a single race and the favorite doesnt get placed then they are knocked out. eventually who ever is left shares the pot based on the amount they paid per line.

you bound to sharre it with someone. so long as a couple of favorites aren't placed and you make to the end, its not a bad payout

Yeah, but say theres £5000 in the pool and you put up your selections and they win, if 10 people follow you and 10 more get it up the dividend would be say £250. Have you not lost £250 by posting them?

I would be surprised if someone decided they would follow my placepot blindly. If they are brave/stupid enough to then they'll get what they deserve i guess. Im not going to worry my self aboout it tbh.

No the bookies in ireland just pay out on the declared dividend, i'm sure they don't actually contribute your bet to the Tote pool in U.K.

bets placed with pp over the phone u do in sterling so they go in the pool.

never seen this before mike l'l have a go at it tomorrow.

bets in shop dont go into the pool.
u can do 5 cent lines in the shop and 10p is the minimun pool bet so they could'nt go in the pool.

bets over the phone do tho l did a placepot over the phone with paddy power last week and had to do it in sterling.

they just charge u the sterling rate in euros then,

What happens then if the Placepot isn't won by someone in the pool and is won by someone not in the pool? In that case there would be no Tote dividend.

Can happen in Ireland but would be very very rare in Britain i'd say, i remember total rags filling the places in one races (33/1, 40/1 and 66/1) at southwell and the placepot winning tickets amounted to 0.35 of 1 line. Still declared a dividend of about 37K though for a full stake :pac:

The biggest ever dividend was over 63K at an end of season meet at newmarket:cool: about 10 years ago.

In fairness it probably wouldnt be that bad...

Think about it, there must have been some huge priced horses to have been placed for no one to get some sort line up. A placed accum would add up nicely for big priced horses.
