    Overrated:

    -Drinking

-Liverpool F.C. (tho they've been slapped to more acceptable levels now)

-Big boobs (fun for maybe 5-10 mins, then you realise they are TOO big)

and of course, these are heinously under-rated:

    -Gambling

    -Poker

-Robbie Coltrane (savage actor; deserves to be so much more famous than he is)

-1980's Rock and Metal (was so much fun, ffs!!! Who cares if it was silly, it was fun!)

Surprised no-one has said Russell brand.Cant stand him

although no doubt he'll be revered around here!

Have to agree with those who said Lee Evans

He seems like a cool bloke but his comedy just isn't funny! Unless I missed humour class when they said running around the stage sweating buckets, pulling mad faces was the new razor sharp wit

Some of the answers on this thread are idiotic.

The question is "Who is severely overrated?"

Some idiotic answers: soccer, Lost, etc.

The only real answer: Alex Ferguson.

He's only won 11 lge titles, 2 european cups, 5 fa cups, 4 lge cups, 1 cup winners cup, theres more to add and thats just with United. He broke the old firm domination. Overrated ok.:P:P:P.

Yes, he's a true genius of the game. But ponder this: if he was manager of, say, Hull or Stoke for the same period how many of those trophies would he have won? He won all those with the RICHEST club in the world. He is overrated, IMO. Let him swap places with Tony Pulis for a while.

they werent the richest club in the world in november 1986 were they? No league title for over 20 years at that point. Ferguson made united the richest club in the world..

Everybody already mentioned, except Eddie Izzard, I like him.
I retch everytime I see Paul Nappy Face Williams on the box, I'd swear he shares the same fragment of personal modesty as Gerry Ryan, both seriously make me gag more than others, except maybe Hector blaaaagggghh!!!!
Al Pacino is a one trick pony and annoys the s***e out of me.
Twink gives me a peculiar gag reflex puke thing I usually manage to swallow again.

Ponder this: What about winning the Scottish league whilst not managing Celtic or Rangers? As well as taking United out of 2 decades of failure, he broke the Old Firm monopoly with Aberdeen. Won a European trophy with them too, beating Real Madrid in the final. Plus as poster above says, United were far from the richest club in the world when Fergie took over. If he had taken over Liverpool in 1986 and won the same amount, then that would leave him open to being over-rated.

Now if you want to talk about over-rated in football, look no further than one trick pony David Beckham.

Or on a completely different note, Kylie Minogue.

There is no need for sexual innuendo, especially implying bestiality at this time of day.

I may have to get my Linda Lovelace DVD out now .. :p

Linda Susan Boreman (January 10, 1949 – April 22, 2002), better known by her stage name "Linda Lovelace," was a porn actress who was famous for her performance of deep throat fellatio in the enormously successful 1972 hardcore porn film Deep Throat. She later denounced her pornography career, claimed that she had been forced into it by her sadistic first husband, and for a while became a spokeswoman for the anti-pornography movement.

It would be easier to ask, "Whose acclaim is fully deserved?"

Lots of musicians, actors, footballers etc etc etc are over-rated.

I wish I could say Gay Byrne, but he's not overrated. He was an outstanding interviewer and broadcaster. Never liked the look of him though and always got the impression that he felt above the average Irish person.

Friend of the family encountered him once upon a time (he was part of the survival challenge that Gay organised). The phrase he used to decribe Gaybo was 'malignant dwarf'. I fancy it would have been stronger if I were older than ten.

But you're right - no matter what you think of him, he was ace.
