Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey folks,

Just wondering what the approx cost of replacing the head gasket on a 95 520i would be?

    Cheers

More than the car is worth probably :(

Ballpark, depending on who does it and what they actually do, as in timing chain/belt, water pump, etc etc. Bit of a "how long is a piece of string" scenario but I would think anything between 800 and 1,000 euro might be average. Don't quote me! A reconditioned engine might be a consideration? No big shortage of 5 series beemers about. Whereabouts are you?

    Did the car overheat?
You would need to see if the head is warped also.
As previously said, it may be cheaper to either replace the engine or the entire car.

Love thoses 5 series BMW's ring around a few places,
might get a decent second hand engine for a couple of hundred.
Maybe even a spare car for the €1000. Keep her motoring.
