Mafi has put his hand up for next week, nice selection headache for Tony McGahan.

For about the six seconds it takes him to write Keith Earls name on the team sheet anyway.

I have to agree with Francis calling DOC ordinary without POC by his side.

O'Gara really needs to stop throwing so many intercept passes, he seems to be so prone to them.

Yeah, he had a quiet night.

Matt Williams made a good point about how Glasgow looked tired. Where was Johnnie Beattie tonight?

this isn't true, and I'm afraid I think that you're just **** stirring.

O'Gara had a good game tonight, glad to see him adding more to his game and not being content to settle for what we always knew he had.

He's taking the ball flatter, and inviting his centres onto the ball moreso than in the past, and he pressed the opposition back.

Call a spade a spade here, he had a fine performance. And 6/8 from the boot, he'll be happy but not satisfied with.

Off the top of my head, this game, the game against Australia, the semi final of the HC, theres loads.

    No, what a childish comment.

These are very recent examples not examples spanned out over a career.

there is an ignore function, its very easy to use, and I feel it will benefit you immensely.

There is no need to turn every little spark into an inferno.

Yeah ignore someone who holds a different opinion, live in your bubble. All I'm saying is O'Gara is a liability with ball in hand.

you gave 3 examples, and then said "There's Loads".

Intercept passes are usually thrown when OH's are forcing the game, trying to get that little bit extra out of players.

Obviously sometimes, they are because of a simple mis timing, or an excellent read by an opposition defender.

I'm sure O'Gara would hold his hand up for most and say "that was my fault". But if you take away the eagerness to take those chances, to try to create space, and try to expose backlines by asking him to be that bit more careful with his passing, you're blunting an essential part of your attack.

Why does everything become sexton/ROG is shyte/brilliant?
They both have their merits and faults.

They both have good games and bad games.
    Does my head in.

Their abilty depends on where you're from.

I dont know I just feel this game reflects my views on ROG, great kicker but leaks tries. In the last 3 games hes started hes been responsible for three tries (two v france and then again tonight) That isnt acceptable at this level.

    And the banter begins...:D

Seriously though, let's hope next week lives up to the billing.

I hope Buckley recovers from his illness to be on the bench, Brugnaut was mangled in the scrums tonight.

Ehhh, do you think Buckley would have gone any better? Remember what happened to him in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

He seems to have improved from the pasting he took in that game.

Then again, I've never been in a scrum so what do I know? :pac:

Shame he didn't play today because it would have actually shown if he's made progress or not.

Can I vaguely remember him crying off sick in other games in the past too, or am I making that up?

Yeah I pointed that out earlier. Its definitely not the first time hes suddenly come down with an illness and had to pull out before a game.

He had pneumonia last season if thats what you're bleating on about.

theres 2 and 3 including tonight. Ur a leinster fan stirring it. I know you are because ur doing the same in the ireland thread. O Gara had a very good game tonight. I hate to see people looking for something to pick out so they can slate him.

Yeah he was quite seriously ill last season. He's not the type of person at all to "cry off." I think that's a bit harsh.

He may be a poor scrummager but he's a tough f*cker.

We're all very, very aware of your view on ROG by now, as you never miss an opportunity to tell us. I want you to take a break from the topic for a little bit as you're being deliberately inflammatory.

Im very worried for the game next friday, with Leinster having one of the stronger scrums in club rugby, and against the Saints in two weeks time, with the scrum being as sh1te as it is now. And bringing Hayes is not gonna do any good :(

Hopefully this new scrum coach can do some good....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,048 ✭✭✭✭phog

Great game and huge result for Munster, denying Glasgow a losing BP. The scrum was a mess and I think the blame lies more with the ref than any of the players, he was allowing the players to talk to him too much, delay crouching and then the re-sets after re-sets.

Munster made a few errors that cost them tries but overall they played a lot better than what Ireland did last week and the result showed that, Quinnies break, followed by Mafi's lead to Hurley's try and JdV's try was outstanding, made my night :D

Anyone hear how Hurley is he seemed to pull up straight away after kicking a clearance kick?

It did but it was one of the few ELVs to stay. One of the better ones IMO along with the 5m behind the scrum.

  • that is an amazing photo

Just saw the highlights of this ( http://player.stv.tv/programmes/stv-rugby-magners-league/2010-03-28-1640/ ) and my God, Stringer's pass is fantastic.

That De Villiers try was insane. He had no right to score that try.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,969 ✭✭✭buck65

deVilliers has been a great signing for us, really coming into his own since the Perpignan away game, good try count too. That try was ridiculous and one of the best I've seen live.
Good game tonight, first half was stop/start but some good excitement in the 2nd. Decent drowd - more like 15,000 than the 20,000 given though. Good atmosphere. Parks place kicked well but kicked away alot of possession and missed a couple of touchfinders.
Munster showed good hunger tonight. Scrum was in trouble and both props struggled. Dave Ryan did well after being introduced. Fogarty was ok with the lineout and showed plenty in the loose.
O Driscoll played again and I* was happy enough with the backrow. Ronan raised his game a bit thankfully.
Stringer was really excellent and kept the ball flying out of the rucks all night. O Gara apart from the intercept was very good too. Kicked well and kept the backs moving. Mafi and de Villiers were everywhere.

He's scored 7 tries in 17 appearances, impressive.

I still think he doesn't get the ball enough though.

    I agree

I am getting fed up with Mafi though...everytime he gets ball he feigns to go outside, comes inside but never breaks tackle..going no where at present.

I thought Mafi had a good game on Friday tbh and has been playing better in his last few matches, when he wasn't sinbinned of course.

I think the new interpretation thats coming in will help Mafi. I think the "old" tackle law that we were using at the start of this season made it a lot harder for him, as his first instinct is always to take the ball into contact, which every team knows he does about 95% of the time, so they would double team him and he'd turnover possession. The new interpretation will give him a few extra seconds to release the ball and keep play going forward.

That said, he actually passed a few times in the game against Glasgow. I didnt know he knew how to :p
