    One of the pieces of advice here was to get out a 1K loan over 12 months to help improve your credit history.

    Why not just take out a loan on a monday and pay it all back the following day?
    Doesn't it look the same on your credit report anyway, since it doesn't detail when you finished paying the loan back, just that you paid it in full and on time.
