Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Help/Favour - Selle San Marco Rolls or Brooks B17

Hi, Currently running a Surly with a Specialised Toupe but that is not really going with the image of the bike .. :). Also, the saddle is not great when you just want to sit and cruise ... very comfortable if you are pushing somewhat hard.

I tried my hand at a B17 narrow, but the saddle won after 200 odd miles.

Before I go off and spend more on any saddle, I was wondering if anyone knows any place in Dublin who might have either the Selle San Marco Rolls or the Brooks B17 for me to test out.

Or if anyone here would be willing to let me try one out for an hour or so
Or trying to get rid of one without hurting the purse a lot.

I have been told that the B17 and the B17 Narrow are completely different beasts .. not just a narrow version of the other ... is that correct.

    Thanks,
    SC

I have a B17 you are welcome to try; bear in mind that it is well worn into the shape of my bottom at this stage so that might have an impact. You can borrow the whole bike if you think it would fit or just the saddle. I am not selling it (many hours work in it now!) but it might give you an idea if the saddle suits you.

I have a selle san marco regal you could borrow if you want, not quite the same as the rolls but it does look more similar to a brooks if that's the look you're going for. i certainly find it very comfortable but can't compare it to the brooks i got off you as i have yet to finish the build it's going on.

I have a Rolls saddle you can try out. Also have a Selle Italia turbo saddle you can try if you like the old school stuff. Neither are for sale though.

Blorg, abcdggs, tax man .... you are all gents.

Thanks for the offers. I will PM you separately to see what day/time would suit you for an hour or so over the next couple of weekends ... I myself prefer dry weather .. :)

Between you 3, I think I have quite a few options covered.

    Thanks once again

I have a SanMarco Rolls, in a box in the garage. In my opinion they are really uncomfortable so you are wise to try before you buy. The Toupe you have on the other hand, is awesome. If you are thinking of selling it I will buy it from you!

You are on ... if my ass agrees with the Rolls, I could buy yours off you if you are trying to offload ... or exchange with the toupe if you are interested after you've seen the state of it ... everything works, but it hasn't been sitting in a box ... :)
